Video: Night Lovell – “Counting Down The List”
The Ottawa Native and Newly-Minted G59 Signee Shares a Moody Visual For His New Single, Which Is Currently Charting at #32 in Urban Radio Airplay
“Night Lovell effortlessly conjures darkness…uniquely ominous, pairing his deep vocals with aggressive, often electronic trap-based productions.” – The FADER
“Night Lovell has been working to put his city on the map, making a name for himself in the process. Having worked with Gnar, $uicideboy$, Joji, Lil West, and others in recent years, Lovell is one of the most celebrated musicians in Ottawa, continuing to push boundaries related to what’s appropriate in the genre.” – HotNewHipHop
Plumbing the depths of his soul in his bone-deep basso, Night Lovell is one of North America’s fastest-rising rappers. Hitting the open road in an effort to escape his demons, Lovell shares the new music video for “Counting Down The List.” An incantatory and atmospheric track that’s gaining inroads on urban radio, the Shaq France-produced “Counting Down The List” finds Lovell finding violent outlets for the pain he feels. In the video, directed by Avery Stedman, Lovell takes his Benz to a remote warehouse to spend some time alone with his thoughts. When he arrives at his destination, he’s greeted by an army of clones of himself, who give Lovell the courage to head back on the road.
Released on February 5th, “Counting Down The List” is quickly becoming one of Lovell’s most successful songs. The audio has more than 1.3 million streams on Spotify alone, and the track is climbing urban airplay charts. The song was premiered by Gray Rizzy on SirusXM’s Hip Hop Nation, where it is currently in rotation. “Counting Down The List” is Night Lovell’s first new single since “Alone,” which dropped in October 2020 and generated over 20 million streams across platforms. Both “Alone” and “Counting Down The List” will appear on Night Lovell’s upcoming album, his first since signing to G59 Records, due to appear in early Q2 2021.
Springing onto the scene as a teenager from Ottawa, a hometown without much of a rap reputation, Night Lovell has evolved into one of his home country’s most respected and popular rappers. The 23-year-old artist’s emotionally raw lyricism, bone-deep vocals, and eclectic taste in production that ranges from electronic to trap has endeared him to fans across the globe, especially in Europe and Russia, where he sold out 28 shows in 32 markets as the headline attraction. In 2019, Night shared his album Goodnight Lovell, a dark, nightmarish effort with highlight tracks like “BAD KID” and “JOAN OF ARC,” racking up over 160 million streams on Spotify.
With 676k Instagram followers, over 650 million Spotify streams, and more than 200 million YouTube views to date, the JUNO Award-nominated Night Lovell has a busy 2021 ahead of him. Stay tuned for much more from the G59 Records artist in the coming weeks.
