Bay Area sensation and E-40 protégé Nef The Pharaoh will be performing live in-store at VFILES in New York City this Friday, November 20th. Praised by Jeff Weiss as “the best rapper from Vallejo since the last great rapper from Vallejo,” the legend Mac Dre being his predecessor, the 20 year-old released his self-titled EP via Complex earlier this month with acclaim. “Nef’s sensibility isn’t exhausting,” Pitchfork stated in their review of the project. “The rapper can embody the obnoxious neighborhood bully, the smoothest game-spitter in school, and a conscientious father in one song all without spoiling the mood, or upstaging the beat.”
Named one of Complex’s 20 New Rappers To Watch Out For in 2015, Nef The Pharaoh will be touring on G-Eazy‘s When It’s Dark Out Tour alongside A$AP Ferg and Marc E. Bassy in 2016 following his run on HBK Gang’s Kool John and P-Lo’s The Moovie Tour this fall. Nef The Pharaoh’s breakout hit “Big Tymin’“ has been on heavy rotation on the Bay Area’s 106 KMEL, and he was recently interviewed for local weekly newspaper East Bay Express for their main music feature. “Big Tymin'” has continued to gain traction and was hi-jacked by YG and Ty Dolla $ign for a remix over summer. Nef The Pharaoh’s debut retail EP on E-40’s Sick Wid It record label is now available.
