Twisting syllables into witty bars with his elastic flow, Nef The Pharoah is one of a kind. Leaving the cozy confines of the Bay Area to jet across the Atlantic, Nef shares “Needed You The Most,” his new video, premiered by HipHopDX. Sipping Hennessy straight out of the bottle on a London Bridge (but not the London Bridge), Nef shouts his haters and doubters: “I walk around like a forgotten, all I see is death/Was born then, now I’m alive, bitch, I can beat the stress/You fell out with your ghostwriter, that’s an easy F.” A subdued and heartfelt track produced by Montage, “Needed You The Most” is the opening track from Mushrooms & Coloring Books, Nef’s new album.

The Background:

Since the mid-2010s, Vallejo, California’s Nef The Pharaoh has led a movement that recharged the entire Bay scene. “I always stayed true to my culture,” he notes. Instead of chasing trends, Nef looked to the legacies of Mac Dre and E-40 to become a star. “When I stepped on the scene, I opened the doors for Vallejo and the new Bay Area,” the 24-year-old asserts. Approaching 2019’s Mushrooms & Coloring Books, the rapper with nearly 100 million YouTube views has proven his command. Now, he will use his skills and artistry to reach even more fans.
