Critical Praise for MerCure Dior:
“He lets his rhymes and flow do the heavy-lifting…” – Earmilk
“More heat where that came from…” – Okayplayer
“Listening to ‘Purple Night Wishes’ by MerCure Dior is one of those majestic moments where you KNOW you’re listening to someone with skill well beyond their current reach.” – VRSMAG
Earlier this month, 19-year-old Italy-born, Maryland-based Cameroonian rapper/producer MerCure Dior shared the colorful visual for “Ok, Straight” via Earmilk. In “Dreams Equal Secrets,” the second single from his forthcoming MerCure Dior (The EP), MerCure distances himself from the bouncy beats of “Ok, Straight,” and introduces a hazy, whirlwind style of his production. Premiering via Okayplayer, “Dreams Equal Secrets” is MerCure’s most introspective track to date, rapping, “Lookin’ for a way to prove that I’m not just some dark-skinned dude/ I actually have a message for a blessing only God’ll recollect it to affect it.”
MerCure immigrated to Maryland from Italy when he was only four years old, and it wasn’t long before his musical abilities surfaced. As a child, he played multiple instruments, wrote raps, and was producing his own beats by the age of nine. MerCure’s rich musical heritage includes two uncles who not only were credited with inspiring songs for James Brown and Michael Jackson, but also were influences of the Bendskin (Cameroon’s unique blend of pop & hip-hop) element in MerCure’s music. MerCure’s international background allows him to bridge cultural gaps and connect with audiences overseas, while his passion for hip-hop helped him find his niche in his hometown of Greenbelt, Maryland.
The forthcoming EP charts MerCure’s growth, and fully introduces the multi-cultural visionary. At just three songs, the complex self-introductory EP gives listeners a window into MerCure’s multifaceted talent. With a self-made pathway, youthful exuberance, and divine message, MerCure Dior is stepping into hip-hop’s future.

MerCure Dior Background:
MerCure Dior was born of Cameroonian roots in Torino, Italy. At the age of four, his family relocated to the United States. His love for music allowed an easy transition into American culture, quickly teaching himself to play both guitar and piano as a child. However, he wasn’t fully satisified with the sound he was producing. At only nine years old he downloaded music producing software and began creating his own beats to rap over. Dior’s music was heavily influenced by his international heritage. Two of his uncles were credited with inspiring songs for James Brown and Michael Jackson and later helped to provide the Bendskin (Cameroon’s unique blend of pop and hip-hop) element in Dior’s music. Dior was further inspired by artists such as Tupac, Michael Jackson, and Kanye West, he continued to pursue his passion in music and dropped several mixtapes throughout middle school and high school. This assisted him in creating a solid fanbase known as The Disciple Life Ones, supporting the importance of spirituality that is present in Dior’s life and music. MerCure Dior’s self-titled EP will be released on August 5th, 2014.
