MP3: Marc E. Bassy – “Fairfax Interlude”
RnB Singer/Songwriter Embodies the Essence of Hot August Summer Nights In L.A. With “Fairfax Interlude”
08.28.2014
Critical Praise for Marc E. Bassy:
“Marc E. Bassy is a fresh voice and one of LA’s own. He fits comfortably in the space between Frank Ocean and Mac Miller.” – LA Music Blog
“His bouncy flow channels the manic energy of Chance The Rapper; the animated style and tempered synths of “Cigarettes” could comfortably fit as a b-side to Acid Rap“ – SPIN
“We were able to give Marc his first ever solo performance at our SXSW Showcase, and it exceeded all expectations.” – Good Music All Day
“A very unique artist, you’ll want to tune in for 2014.” – Hypnotic Hippo
The Song:
Following the fluently playful single “Relapse,” featuring Iamsu!, Marc E. Bassy keeps his wave rolling as LA Music Blog debuts his atmospheric loosie, “Fairfax Interlude.” Perfect for rooftop chillin’ or congregating in someone’s living room, “Fairfax Interlude” sinks in with drowning bass, airy synths, and easily digested lyrics serving as a lightweight ode to the ambitious youthfulness of Los Angeles. Detailing the city as a continuation of high school, Marc admits, “The dream is still alive in L.A. We don’t quit or give up, we keep the party going.”
With lyrics like, “I don’t think that anybody in here gon’ remember how we feeling/ Something in the way you work it baby it’s appealing/ And you got me feeling it too,” Marc contrasts the intoxicating overlap between young college students and their counterparts who’ve given up the books for Hollywood. Bassy explains, “there is a need for loud music and letting go, ‘Fairfax Interlude‘ is a window into summer nights in L.A. There’s a lot of excitement out here, but for me, it all revolves around Fairfax.”
Marc’s debut EP, Only The Poets, showcases his range as a singer while weighing in on topics not typical of mainstream radio. The EP features appearances by Iamsu! and Kehlani, with production from NICNACBEATS and Billion Coast. Only The Poets fuses RnB, Hip-Hop and soulful stylings birthing something uniquely satisfying.

Marc E. Bassy Background:
San Francisco-born Future RnB singer songwriter Marc E. Bassy is an artist who refuses to be pigeonholed. Inspired by the Bay Area Rap he grew up with as well as traditional Soul/RnB music, Marc has always found himself balancing between the two. Not only has Marc written songs for 2 Chainz, Sean Kingston, Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa but he has also found success with his former Rap/Rock group 2AM Club, whose 2010 debut album What Did You Think Was Going To Happen? reached #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers charts. His debut solo EP Only The Poets, will be released later this summer marking the beginning of a superstar on the rise in the next phase in his career.
