Critical Praise for MAHD:

“…equipped with a rapid fire flow and a sharp delivery.” – DJBooth

“The up-and-coming Motor City MC makes a city known for it’s blight beam bright.” – The Smoking Section

“Like the city he hails from, MAHD’s work represents stark contrasts: grit and beauty, aggression and vulnerability.” – NYLON Magazine

The Song:

“The wordsmith’s message is clear: get up, get out and do something,” says HipHopWired of Detroit rapper MAHD in their premiere of “OUT,” the second single from his forthcoming album 13. His lyrics express a clear vision—he expects nothing less than to come out on top. The synth weaves along a momentous bass line as he professes, “Back to the money, can’t stop now, my legs still work, so i’mma keep runnin’/ Chase my goals, leave these hundreds, then give it up easy like Debo want it, we so on it.” Speaking with HipHopWired, MAHD says “I feel I have a purpose on this Earth that can bring change through my words, so that’s what I’m doing. I developed this belief after looking around and seeing people complacent with lives that I couldn’t picture myself living forever.”

MAHD’s flow shines light on both his Motor City roots and drive to move forward. “Out” follows the release of his loose singles “Raptizm,” which premiered via HipHopDX, and the soulful “Raw Shit,” which premiered with OkayplayerIt also follows the album’s first single, “Hello Detroit,” which 2DopeBoyz labeled “a passionate painting of the city’s make-up and plea to its detractors.”

NYLON Magazine previously stated that “Like the city he hails from, MAHD’s work represents stark contrasts: grit and beauty, aggression and vulnerability.” MAHD’s upcoming concept album, which is slated to release in March, is expected to convey just that—fearless lyrics demonstrating the hustle that’s taking MAHD to success. 13 is about his journey—from the downfalls and hardships to realizing how far his focus can truly take him. “It’s me experiencing some hardships and downfalls in my life at home that ultimately caused me to move out of state for a while to clear my head,” MAHD explains. “‘Out’ is the point in the story where I’m on a road trip to my new destination and I find myself ‘scrolling my phone’ looking for someone to talk to and keep me company.”
