Video: Lil Reek – “Rock Out” (Prod. by Brodinski) (Dir. Kim Chapiron)

The Atlanta Riser Brings Out the Block in a Rowdy New Video, From an Upcoming Collaborative Project with Brodinski

3.5.2018

The Video:

Lil Reek is a fascinating presence and a promising emcee. Teaming up with French DJ/Producer Brodinski for an aggro-trap banger, Lil Reek shares “Rock Out,” his new single. Running roughshod over a pulsating and heavy house-influenced beat, the high school senior Lil Reek proclaims his rap supremacy, spitting violent threats toward inferior rappers and lames of all stripes and sizes. Directed by Kim Chapiron, a founder of the Kourtrajmé collective along with Romain-Gavras, the video takes a stylishly lo-fi look at Lil Reek’s life, following him driving around the neighborhood, partying with his block in the yard, and hanging out in his crib with a pet snake. “Rock Out” is the first single from Graduation, Lil Reek’s upcoming EP, which features production from Brodinski, Chase The Money, and Mister Tweeks.

Atlanta native Lil Reek is an incredible character. Currently navigating between school and his musical career, the young artist grew up on Cleveland Ave., fashioning his burgeoning music after the likes of Fetty Wap and Lil Baby. In 2016, Reek appeared on Young Slime Season, a compilation mixtape by  Brodinski’s BROMANCE label. After appearing on the mixtape, Brodinski and Reek hit it off, leading to much more collaboration between the two, including multiple collaborations on Graduation, Reek’s upcoming project.

Starting his career as a buzzing DJ in Paris’ famed Social Club, Louis Brodinski developed a reputation for his maximalist and aggressive dance music. In 2012, Brodinski co-founded Bromance Records, which boasts an international roster of impressive artists, including Gesaffelstein, Louisahhhh, and others. In 2015, Brodinski released Brava, his debut album, which mixed techno productions with Southern rap. After ending Bromance in 2017, Brodinski has settled in Atlanta, working with different rappers of the region, including ILoveMakonnen, Peewee Longway, Young Nudy and Johnny Cinco. The Matrix is the first in a series of collaborative products between Brodinski and a rapper, setting the tone with strong bars complementing his aggressive sonics.
