The South Carolina Rapper Makes the Outlaw’s Life Look Like a Blast in His Latest Video

Molding his high-pitched tenor into piercing hooks and hard-hitting bars, rising South Carolina rapper Lil Mexico knows how to make his trap jump. Giving us a glimpse into his base of operations, Lil Mexico shares “Trap Jumpin,” his new video. With a tinker-toy beat from JetsonMade, “Trap Jumpin” demonstrates Mexico’s myriad talents, from his infectious ad-libs, to his ease with melody, to his ability to mix flexing with storytelling: “Mexico was skippin’ school but in the trap I’m doin’ math/Beat the pack just like a boss, I gotta hit it with a jab/I got money flowin’ in like the water in the bath/Know I made my momma mad cause I took my daddy’s path.” In the video, Mexico cooks up at his trap house, mobbing with his homies and serving his hood’s fiends. “Trap Jumpin” is the latest video from Life Of An Outlaw, Mexico’s upcoming project, following the video for the “Trap Boyz” (Remix) (192k views on YouTube).

A full-length collaboration with JetsonMade, a fellow SC native who produced many of DaBaby‘s biggest hits, Life Of An Outlaw highlights Lil Mexico’s impressive melodies and his high-energy rhymes. Featuring appearances from Lil Keed, Lil GotIt, and Yung Mal, Life Of An Outlaw releases on December 11th.

Born and raised in Gray Court, a small town in northwestern South Carolina (est. population 1,021), Lil Mexico started rapping at the age of eleven, inspired by Lil Wayne’s mixture of punchlines, charisma, and mass appeal. In 2017, Mexico started to gain traction with “Forever,” a low-budget, high-energy video that offered a glimpse of his country trap lifestyle. With his Trench Baby mixtape series, Mexico grew his core fanbase and solidified his reputation in the Southern scene, recruiting the likes of Fredo Bang, NGeeYL, and Slimelife Shawty for 2019’s Trench Baby 2.5. With Life Of An Outlaw, Lil Mexico heads into 2020 with a head full of steam, looking to confirm his status as one of the south’s most promising emcees.
