Critical Praise:
“Lil Gotit is the heir to Atlanta’s rap throne” – The FADER
“Fresh off the release of his latest project, Crazy But It’s True, in March, ‘Lil Ralph’ is another step toward Lil Gotit having the sort of 2019 come-up that Lil Baby and Gunna had last year.” – Complex
“Like a fairy tale set in Atlanta’s Lenox Mall” – Pitchfork
The Announcement:
Crafting a warped style of ATL rap defined by percolating beats and vocal experimentation, Lil Gotit is ready to ascend to trap royalty. Teaming up with ATL-born super-producer LondonOnDaTrack for a full-length, Gotit announces Superstar Creature, his next project. One of the chief architects of rap music’s sound in the late 2010s, London has a knack for shepherding talent from the underground the main-stream, helming Young Thug’s first national hit “Lifestyle” and recruiting 21 Savage to appear on Drake’s “Sneakin’” in 2017. A protégé of Thug’s and a major figure in the new wave of Atlanta rap, Gotit is the perfect fit for London’s organ-filled, swinging blend of trap music, matching his inimitable vocal tics to London’s hook-filled flourishes. Featuring appearances from Polo G and Young Nudy, Superstar Creature arrives later this month via Alamo Records/Interscope.
To accompany the announcement of the mixtape, Gotit and London share “Bet Up,” the project’s lead video single. A bouncing trap anthem defined by reggae-style, upbeat-accented guitars, “Bet Up” provides the first taste of the chemistry between artist and producer, as Gotit emphasizes London’s spindly guitars with hiccuped hooks. In the video, London and Gotit travel to Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, as they shoot dice and show off classic cars.
Superstar Creature follows up a breakout year for Lil Gotit, marked by two full-length projects. Last March, the Alamo Records signee shared Crazy But It’s True, which boasted Gotit’s street hit “Da Real HoodBabies,” eventually blessed with a remix featuring Lil Baby. In September, Gotit shocked his fans by dropping his The Real GOAT mixtape. Praised by The FADER and Passion of the Weiss, The Real GOAT found the 20-year-old rapper expanding his style and hanging out with his creative friends. The self-proclaimed “Hood Baby” also performed at two separate Rolling Loud festivals, and toured several dates opening for his older brother Lil Keed.
