Lil Durk Announces Just Cause Y’all Waited 2, Releasing May 8th
The Only The Family/Alamo Rapper Shares “Viral Moment,” His Latest Video Single
The Chicago Native Shares a Cameo-Packed Visual for Another Standout Street Ballad, Launches a New Merch Bundle for the Upcoming Album
Critical Praise:
“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” –Pitchfork
“Lil Durk continues to be one of the most consistent rappers out.” – The FADER
“the rose that blossomed from the concrete of Chi-Town’s drill music scene” – Billboard
“His flexibility as a rapper creates enough space for his guest artist to shine, but his standalone cuts are evidence that he can carry the weight on his own.” – HYPEBEAST
The Announcement:
With his auto-tuned melodies and deep empathy, Lil Durk‘s music encapsulates the tragedies and triumphs of street life. Eager to whet the appetites of fans clamoring for more Durk music, the rapper announces Just Cause Y’all Waited 2, his upcoming album. The new album is the sequel to a well-received 2018 mixtape, Just Cause Y’all Waited, which arrived during a label transition and was the original landing spot for “Home Body,” which earned a Gold certification from the RIAA. Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 arrives on May 8th via Only The Family/Alamo Records.
Taking shots at clout chasers and giving game to inexperienced youngsters, Durk shares “Viral Moment,” a new video from the upcoming project. Linking up with Only The Family in-house producer TouchOfTrent, who layers dramatic piano with wailing saxophone and knocking 808s, Durk digs deep into his past, illustrating how he’s remained true to the streets even as his star rose: “This sh*t was different, we was together like 10 years ago/And I don’t talk to a lot of n****s, but they still the bros/The ones I ain’t talk to like that back then know they still hoes/And some n****s try to hide they hate but that sh*t still shows.”
In the video, directed by Jerry Production, Durk mobs in his Atlanta mansion with a gaggle of famous friends, including Lil Baby and Only The Family signees like Booka600, Memo600, and Doodie Lo. His third hard-hitting single in the past few weeks, “Viral Moment” follows “All Love,” another TouchOfTrent production from the upcoming album, which earned over 6 million streams in less than one month.
Along with the new video, Durk announces a new merch drop for the upcoming album. Head to OTFGear.com to check out and buy hoodies, t-shirts, sticker packs, posters, socks, face masks, and other items.
Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 arrives ahead of No Auto Durk, the rapper’s forthcoming project with Metro Boomin. Announced during All-Star Weekend with a billboard in Chicago, the project provides a gift for fans who prefer Durk’s snarling rap style to his auto-tuned croons. The rapper has already demonstrated his “no auto” style on and “Chiraq Demons,” a fiery single with G Herbo, and “No Auto,” a Hot 100-placing highlight from the deluxe edition of Lil Uzi Vert’s blockbuster Eternal Atake album.
Stealing the show on recent collaborations with Roddy Ricch, Lil Skies, and more, Durk has asserted his position on hip-hop’s A-List. He recently starred in a nationally-televised commercial for Nike’s Air Jordan, advertising the Lyrical Lemonade x Jordan Aerospace 720, Nike’s collab with Lyrical Lemonade founder Cole Bennett. Durk recently made his voice-over debut in the Lyrical Lemonade animated show, and recently appeared on Wild N Out with Chance The Rapper.
On Saturday, Durk hosted a meal drive to feed the frontline workers at Chicago’s Rush Hospital, partnering with local restaurant PHLAVZ to drop off meals at the hospital and make over 100 more meals available for pickup later that night. “Everyone back home has been in my thoughts,” says Durk, “especially those doing something for the community and all the neighborhood heroes. I thought about all the first responders putting their lives on the line to help out and it inspired me, so I took a jet back to Chicago to show my thanks.”

King Von is currently preparing his debut mixtape. Returning to the scene with his Dirty-Glove Bastard-premiered single “War Scars,” melodic mastermind Booka600released his mixtape Word To LA in June.
