The Video:

Brooklyn rapper LeVarsity is having a good time with friends in the vibrant “#DCMS” video. Splashes of pastel colors follow the bright rapper and his crew of dancers as they bounce along to the track, which finds LeVarsity rapping about his flair. “#DCMS,” short for “Don’t Cramp My Style,” is produced by Dre Da Giant and directed by BrannDannArt. The video debuts via HipHopDX, who notes that “the single’s fun, minimalistic vibe bears similarities to The Pack’s ‘Vans.'” “#DCMS” is from LeVarsity’s recently released4TUNES EP.

“Growing up in Brooklyn gave me a certain confidence about myself,” LeVarsity explains. “I grew up hearing a lot of Notorious BIG, Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, and of course Jay-Z. These guys put Brooklyn on the map. They made people respect the artists Brooklyn bred. So I always hold myself to those standards. You can’t be an artist from Brooklyn, and be wack. I never brag about being the best but I do realize how talented I am and love that I could say I’m from Brooklyn at the end of the day.”

The Background:

Levar Desty, better known by his stage name LeVarsity, has been experimenting with music since a young age. Since he was 9 years old, LeVarsity’s been aware of his gift to cleverly put words together that rhymed. He started recording music at the age of 13 but didn’t take it seriously until he got to college and met fellow creatives. Realizing how far his talent could take him while studying at SUNY Cortland, LeVarsity met fellow rapper Troy Grindz, producer Dre Da Giant, photographer BrannDannArt, and a few other creatives that came together to form the group Black Monks.  Since graduating from SUNY Cortland in 2014 with a bachelors degree in Communications, LeVarsity’s been focused on making a name for himself in New York City. His debut EP, 4PLAY, released in April of 2015. Since then, he’s released two more projects, A Letter 4rm France and 4TUNES. Stay tuned for more from the exuberant Brooklyn emcee.
