The Video:
Incorporating elements from various styles into their pristine and minimal production, German group KitschKrieg has the ear of vital artists on both sides of the Atlantic. Gathering some of their ammo in their war against the mundane, Kitschkrieg formally announces their new album German Engineering 1, coming this summer via their own SoulForce Records.
Coming in at a lean ten tracks, German Engineering 1 rolls out the red carpet some of the hottest rising talent from the U.S. and UK, along with Jamaican dancehall star Skillibeng. American rappers like 2Rare, Anti Da Menace, KenTheMan, and Dusty Locane get to stretch their muscles, rhyming over high-octane instrumentals that depart from their usual aesthetic. GE1 also welcomes exciting rappers from the UK, including Nemzzz, who appears on two tracks, Stefflon Don, SwitchOTR, and Arz. Hopping from sound to sound with ease, KitschKrieg maintains a high level of musical ingenuity and production value, creating an album purpose built to guide listeners from a breezy pregame to a sweaty dancefloor. Stay tuned for German Engineering 1, coming July 28 via SoulForce Records.
Along with the official announcement of the project, KitschKrieg shares “Searching,” a new video single featuring Lil Baby-co-signed Atlanta rapper Anti Da Menace. A mournful trap ballad about the realities of life in his home neighborhood, “Searching” starts with Anti’s plaintively melodic hook, as he croons “searching for murder, oh” between rippling pianos and live string instrumentation. When the drums kick in, Anti speeds up his flow, spitting at a breakneck pace as he asserts that he will eliminate anyone who stands in the way of his ultimate goals: “He say that he gang gang, but we ain’t on the same thing/The quickest way to get rich is stay up in your damn lane, p****” In the video, like all KitschKrieg videos, shot in crisp black-and-white, Anti and his homies post up in the trap, presenting a united front to silence the haters and doubters. “Searching” quickly follows the video for “Really Rich,” the bouncy, Afrobeats-inflected first collaboration between KitschKrieg and Anti Da Menace. In addition, KitschKrieg shares “More Than That,” a mellow bit of UK drill featuring rising London emcee SwitchOTR.
Animated by excellent taste and a dedication to their craft, KitschKrieg created a sound of their own, drawing from influences that range from the holistic approach of Bauhaus to the steely soundscapes of grime to the electronic music of their hometown of Berlin–all while staying out of the way and letting the vocal breathe. A trio comprised of Fizzle, Fiji Kris, and elusive photographer °awhodat°, KitschKrieg rose steadily over the past five years to become one of the biggest acts in German music. KitschKrieg, their 2020 debut album, spawned two #1 hits, generated over 400 million streams across platforms, earned GOLD certification, and featured guest spots from every major player in the German scene. To date, KitschKrieg have racked up over 1 billion streams across platforms, and have scored two Platinum singles and six Gold singles in their home country. They’re known for their exquisite taste in streetwear–their new offerings sell out in hours–and have partnered with brands like Nike, Carhartt, and Monopoly.
Last year, KitschKrieg collaborated with Brooklyn drill bruiser Dusty Locane for the brash banger “Ratchets,” which came with a video featuring an early cameo appearance from Ice Spice. “Ratchets,” as well as the recent KenTheMan collaboration “BAD B*TCH (BODY, WAIST, LIPS, FACE),” will appear on German Engineering 1.
With their sights set on conquering new worlds and German Engineering 1 on the way, KitschKrieg is determined to continue their war against disposable art on foreign shores. Stay tuned for much more.

The Background:
Few artists have left their mark on German music culture like KitschKrieg. Since connecting in a shared apartment in Berlin-Kreuzberg in 2014, the trio of producers Fiji Kris, Fizzle and the elusive photographer/art director °awhodat°, essentially re-shaped how Germany sounds, looks and feels. Whether it’s their stripped-back sonics drawing from soundsystem culture, Grime’s DIY approach and their hometown’s vibrant electronic music scene; the contrast-heavy, black/white imagery or their instantly iconic streetwear creations – a true KitschKrieg piece can be told from afar.
