The Video:

Delivering gripping narratives with an aggressively energetic flow, King Von effortlessly demands attention. Dramatizing another one of his street stories, Von shares “Took Her To The O,” a brand new music video. Over a sinister, piano-led drill beat from frequent collaborator Chopsquad DJ, Von vigorously tells the story of a seduction that goes wrong once another man enters the picture: “She left her phone, so I picked it up/This ho slow as f*ck/Nine missed calls, three of them from mom the other six say “Duck”/Now I look up, and I see a truck, it just pullin’ up/Someone hopped out, a big goofy n****, he tryna look tough.” Directed by Joan Pabon, the video finds Von recounting the story to a therapist, intercutting narrative scenes (cribbed directly from Von’s detailed lyrics) with shots of Von and his therapist getting down to DJ’s beat. “Took Her To The O” is the first single from LeVon James, the Chicago rapper’s upcoming project.

With a title that alludes to Von’s G.O.A.T. aspirations, LeVon James is a fierce and invigorating listen, packed with gripping street stories, ferocious flows, and production from frequent Von collaborator Chopsquad DJ, among others. Featuring appearances from King Von’s mentor Lil Durk, along with G Herbo, YNW Melly, NLE Choppa, Tee Grizzley, Yungeen Ace, and Booka600, LeVon James arrives on March 6th via Only The Family/EMPIRE.

King Von is currently preparing for his role as the primary support for G Herbo on the “PTSD Tour.” Kicking off in Brooklyn on February 27th (Brooklyn Steel), the 28-date nationwide tour passes through Atlanta (Tabernacle) on March 11th, and Joliet, IL (The Forge) on April 3rd before wrapping up in Cleveland (House of Blues) on April 7th. In January, Von shared the video “Crazy Story Pt. 3“ (4 million views), a continuation of his breakout hit, complete with visuals that complemented his narrative, and earlier in 2020, he collaborated with Sada Baby on “Pressin“ (5.1 million views).

The Background:
King Von was born in the South Side of Chicago, growing up in O Block, the area that produced Chief Keef. After rightfully beating an erroneous murder charge that could have put him away for life, King Von took inspiration from heroes like Lil Wayne and turned to rapping, linking up with Lil Durk who signed him to his OTF label. Within six months, Von had a series of viral hits, including the sinister “Problems,” which has over 3.4 million views after its debut on Lil Durk’s YouTube channel, and the defiant “War Wit Us,” which has over 3.8 million YouTube views. With “Crazy Story” currently burning up urban radio (it recently reached #76 on the nationwide chart), Von seems to be on the fast track to translate his fervent local following into national fame.
