The Memphis Rapper Continues #GLOCKTOBER With a Video That Examines the Two Sides of His Hometown

Oft imitated, never replicated, Paper Route Empire capo Key Glock is one of a kind. Sharing a new song to celebrate his singular status, Glock drops “One Me,” a new beat-shifting banger. The song starts in haunting minimalist fashion, with boosted bass, snapping percussion, and little adornment, as Glock rhymes about cutting the heads off untrustworthy snakes. About halfway through, the track opens up, transforming into a swinging soul-sampler and allowing Glizzock to explain what makes him so much more than your average Joe: “Why the f*ck did you buy two Rolls/Low key, I’m workin on three/I was 14 mouth full of gold/Me and Lil Robba smokin on G.” In the video, Glock shows the two sides of his hometown of Memphis–during the grittier first half of the song, Glock mobs with his crew in a rundown traphouse, while the more celebratory second half finds Glock surveying his Empire on a Memphis rooftop.

“One Me” is Glock’s third new single of #GLOCKTOBER, following last week’s “Murder & Millions” and the earlier “No Hook 2,” all three being his first new songs since the Glockoma 2 (Deluxe) project. In addition, Glock teamed up with Gucci Mane for the Bandcamp-produced single “Glizock & Wizop,” which appears on Gucci’s new album Breath Of Fresh Air. Earlier this month, Glock announced his first-ever Canadian headlining tour. Kicking off next month in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the tour passes through six Provinces, with shows in major cities like Vancouver (November 19), Toronto (November 23), Montreal (November 26), and more. This has been a busy year for Key Glock, as he continues to become one of the brightest stars in Southern rap. In Feburary, Key Glock shared his latest album, Glockoma 2, which recently expanded with Glockoma 2 (Deluxe). The album finds the Memphis playmaker at the top of his game, making it look easy to shoulder a 23-track load without any features, as usual. Glockoma 2 spent 8 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at #13, and is home to hits like “From Nothing,” “Dirt,” and most recently “Presidential Rolex.” Earlier this year, Glock headlined the fast-selling SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation Presents: Key Glock – Glockoma Tour,” with support from XXL Freshman TiaCorine, Dallas riser BigXThaPlug, and his PRE associates including Kenny Muney and Jay Fizzle.
