Following My Grandma’s Basement Tour, Jarren Benton to open for Rittz during 33 city tour, beginning Oct. 31

Critical Praise for Jarren Benton:

“As [My Grandmas Basement] unfolds, one thing becomes clear: [Jarren Benton] can handle himself just fine.” – Creative Loafing, 4/5 review

“Benton has an extraordinarily nimble flow and sense of rhythm.” – HipHopDX

The Tour:

Jarren Benton is excited to announce that he will open for Rittz on his The Life And Times Tour. The tour kicks off Thursday, October 31st, in Mursfreesburo, Tennessee, stopping in 33 cities and wrapping up December 8th in Toledo, Ohio. Scheduled to make stops in Hollywood, New York, and Las Vegas along the way, the tour will also feature fellow opening act Snow Tha Product.

This upcoming tour with Rittz comes on the heels of Jarren’s first ever headline tour this past fall, a 16 city run that followed a co-headline tour in Australia alongside Funk Volume labelmate Dizzy Wright.  This summer Jarren released his official debut album, My Grandmas Basement, through Funk Volume. The album, which features Vinnie Paz, R.A. The Rugged Man, Hopsin, and Dizzy Wright, debuted at #4 on the iTunes hip-hop charts and #4 on Billboard Magazine’s Heatseekers Album chart.

The recent visual for “Don’t Act,”  with blunts blazing, girls going crazy, and Pabst Blue Ribbon aplenty, gives a glimpse into the experience of a Jarren Benton performance. “I’m excited to get back on the road,” says Jarren of the upcoming dates. “I’m excited to become closely connected with each and every audience. I’ll be down in the crowd, dancing and getting turnt up with the people.”

On November 11, Funk Volume will release Independent Living, a documentary following the Funk Volume crew over the course of their 2012 nationwide tour. The film focuses on the Southern California hip-hop label’s swift rise, also taking an intimate look into the personal lives of Hopsin, Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton, SwizZz, DJ Hoppa, and label co-founder Damien Ritter. Funk Volume will screen the documentary for fans and press this Sunday, November 3rd, at the Downtown Independent Theater in Los Angeles. Jarren Benton Background:

For an artist with serious mainstream aspirations, Decatur, Georgia’s Jarren Benton has spent his career going against the grain. One of Funk Volume’s premiere acts, Jarren admits, “I love the music I do now. I do it in the safe-mode.” That’s rather shocking for an artist whose last album, Freebasing With Kevin Bacon lived up to its name, at least in attitude and style, evident on single “Skitzo.” He continues, “I want to take it a lil’ further. I just haven’t had the balls to go all the way there yet, ‘cause I presently want to keep a foot in the mainstream too.” After two successful digital releases and a video with over one million YouTube plays, Jarren is currently promoting his Funk Volume debut album, My Grandmas Basement, which debuted at #4 on the iTunes Hip Hop Chart. He just wrapped the My Grandma’s Basement Tour, his first ever headline U.S. tour.

Funk Volume Background:

Funk Volume is a record label, marketing and production company founded to give hip hop artists a home to freely express themselves without feeling controlled or pressured by any other outside forces. Currently home to Hopsin, SwizZz, Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton and DJ Hoppa, Funk Volume’s plan is to represent only the sickest, most talented, and most creative artists that we can find. The label’s objective is to produce music that it feel competes with any other artists or labels in the industry. Funk Volume is not a “movement”, not a “gang”, not a “squad.” Funk Volume is a commitment – to protect the integrity of the music and conduct our business properly. It is a commitment to hip-hop, to its fans, and to each other.
