EP: ill-esha Announces New EP and Single
ill-esha Announces New EP In 2015, Premieres New Single via Thump
02.20.2015
The EP:
EDM/DJ veteran ill-esha is back, firing more of her signature melodic, bass-filled jams in 2015 prepping for the release of her full-length album, Hyperbolic Space Crochet. ill-esha released the album’s first single, “Ice Blue,” via Thump who called it a “feelsy affair.” Hyperbolic Space Crochet, from the eccentric Vancouver artist/songwriter/producer/DJ, will be accompanied by an original collection of visuals in collaboration with SAUCEMONSTER.
ill-esha has been in the electronic music scene for a minute—or rather, over 20 years—but her raw talent brings an ability to bring fresh, dynamic tracks every time around. With projects in drum and bass, glitch hop, and dubstep, ill-esha continues to grace stages with her innovative production, voice, and keytar riffs. Her new track, “Ice Blue,” is a thumper—with heavy bass and polished synths, it’s way out of this world. It’s an epic production to get audiences ready for the release of the album, which drops later this year.
ill-esha is known to push the boundaries of electronic music and her new EP is no different. Working with SAUCEMONSTER, who accompanied ill-esha on live visuals during her recent tour with Amp Live, ill-esha’s excited for the sounds and looks of the project. “[SAUCEMONSTER has] been developing a very signature original collection of images, motion graphics and all kinds of layers which truly visually express my music,” ill-esha explained. The album is set to make waves with ill-esha taking her place back in the spotlight as a musician who has been in the scene for over 20 years. She described her own musical style as “Lovestruck, daydreaming, sensual, glowing and bottom heavy. Just like me.” Fans are in for more of her musical treats in 2015.

ill-esha Background:
ill-esha has weathered the dynamic, often ephemeral soundscape of electronic music, simply by being an original. “I’m not really an observer. I’m very much a participant and a creator,” self-describes the Vancouver, British Columbia-born artist, songwriter, producer, and DJ. “Everything I do in my life, it quickly becomes way more than a hobby.” From growing up in the EDM hotbed of the Pacific Northwest, attending raves in her teens, ill-esha accelerated her musical passions to the fullest. “First I wanted to be part of this culture as a DJ, doing vocals and curating music. After that, I also needed to participate in the music I was playing,” referring to her progression as a producer and headlining performer. “I’ve just been moving one step up at a time over the years, into being this completely original show.” Authenticity has been a driving force in ill-esha’s albums, including 2008’s The Perfect Circuit, 2010’s Circadian Rhythms, and most recently, 2014’s Open Heart Surgery, among a plethora of singles, EPs, and various appearances and side projects. Looking at the space she’s helped lead, she says, “Those of us who do it own way without going with what’s hot in the market, we don’t blow up as much, but we’re all still here.” With turntables, keytars, vocal loopers, and other instrumentals integrated within her sets, all of the iterations of ill-esha’s journey are represented.
