Today, modern reggae heavyhitter Collie Budz joins forces with Gypsy-pop singer-songwriter Neon Hitch for a remix on his most recent single, “Wake & Bake,” premiered by LADYGUNN. Hailing from England, Neon Hitch has been buds with Budz for several years, and after hearing the beat she had to throw some of her personal spice into that crisp reggae pot of delicious tones, calling it a “dream come true” to be working with her friend. An infectious chorus by Collie Buddz carries the bouncy, dance-floor ready tune as Neon Hitch provides a luring opening verse. Also joined by HBK Gang’s leader Iamsu!, Collie’s self-produced track brings smoky vibes with LADYGUNN saying “this jam comes with a built-in high. Get lost in the haze…”
“Wake & Bake” follows Collie Buddz’ recently released Blue Dreamz EP, which debuted at #3 on Billboard’s Reggae Album Charts. As he explained to The FADER, the EP is a product of a visit to Jamaica where he focused on “getting back to the roots, that raw Reggae sound.” Collie has a series of upcoming tour dates for his Blue Dreamz Tour spanning the West Coast, Midwest, and South.. Collie Buddz Background:
Growing up on the island of Bermuda, Reggae music was a formidable influence on a young Collie Buddz. Born Colin Harper in New Orleans, LA to a mother of Bermudian heritage with roots on the island dating back to the 1700s, his father passed away while Collie Buddz was at the tender age of four. Introduced to Reggae music by his older brother, Matthew, affectionately just known as “Smokey,” by the tenderfoot age of 12, Colin Harper quickly learned his way around a music studio.
With support from his team at Mojiza Management and touring and merchandising backing at Ineffable Music, Collie Buddz has toured the world. He’s honed his craft while in support of several tours with artists such as Cypress Hill, Rebelution and Matisyahu. He’s performed in front of thousands at the largest music festivals such as Lollapalooza, Boomtown, Summer Jam and the California Roots Festival. While touring, Buddz still found time to record new material and release original music independently on his own record label, Harper Digital. He’s even managed to launch a new radio station back home in Bermuda (Vibe 103) and become a father.
