The Show:

Bay Area rappers Iamsu! and Sage the Gemini are two of today’s biggest hip-hop artists, and they’re teaming up for their first official joint show at the Check Yo Ponytail 2 party in Los Angeles. The party taking place on October 18th will also feature FiNaTTicZ, Kool John (who is part of Iamsu!’s HBK Gang,) and Brrrang-a-dang.

Sage’s hit song “Gas Pedal” featuring Iamsu! reached #4 on the Billboard Hip-Hop Streaming chart, has been certified gold, and started a massive viral trend on Vine and YouTube of fans dancing to the song. In the past year, Su has worked with hip-hop stars on tracks such as Wiz Khalifa‘s “Bout Me” and 2 Chainz’ “Livin’,” and headlined two tours of which 70% of the dates sold out. He has also released his KILT II mixtape which charted on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at #52 for its sales on iTunes even after it had been released as a free mixtape a month earlier. Sage the Gemini has also been having a breakthrough year, coming from the success of “Gas Pedal” and his hit song “Red Nose.”

Sage and Su’s performance will take place at Echoplex in Los Angeles on October 18th at 8 PM. Tickets are available in advance or day-of-show. The two are also playing together for Heartbreak Halloween on October 31st in San Francisco at The Regency Ballroom with Kool John, Jay Ant, and DJ Amen.

Iamsu! Background:

2012 was nothing short of a breakout year for Iamsu!. The 22-year-old popped up with a triple-threat performance on LoveRance’s “UP!,” which Su! produced, penned the hook for, and guested on with a scene-stealing verse. The song peaked at number one on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and in the midst of that success, Su! again delivered a fan-favorite verse on a big-time radio single, this time with E-40′s”Function.” Su! followed that success with a solo mixtape, KILT, and the critical acclaim came in droves, as the project was hailed by SPIN as their Rap Release Of The Week, with the outlet also naming Su! as one of their 5 Best New Artists for June ’12. Su!’s been plenty busy since – a west coast tour; a collaborative mixtape with Jay Ant; a standout collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, “Bout Me,” that appeared on Khalifa’s Cabin Fever 2 and will also show up on his sophomore album, O.N.I.F.C. The two West Coast rappers co-headlined their own Million Dollar Afro Tour to support the mixtape.
