“Wisdom, from Havana (a tiny suburb of Tallahassee), fuses the tropical bounce of Florida street rap with the tenderness in the ballads of Southern and Midwestern truth-tellers. And the instrumental—flickering percussion and scattered, Broward County steel drums, merged with slow-mo, almost G-funk synths—is both melancholic and upbeat at the same time. It’s all rounded out by Wisdom’s raspy melodies, as he seamlessly toggles between no-frills aggression and lilts that hit like a sunshower.” – Pitchfork

“The Havana native broke down the regional barriers of Tallahassee with the twitchy “Giannis” in August, which picked up momentum like the Milwaukee Bucks superstar on a fast break to close out 2024. Hurricane narrates his gritty come-up but also delivers witty one-liners making light of his situation. He compares guns to the size of Giannis Antetokounmpo and jokes about not being good at math, but keeping problem-solvers around – if you catch his drift.” – Billboard

The Announcement:

Hurricane Wisdom made a tsunami-sized splash when he dropped his new album, Weathering The World, last week. Keeping the momentum going, the 25-year-old Florida native drops the video for “Running,” a thoughtful and melodic highlight from the album. Produced by RealRichMoney, LC & APGoKrazy, “Running” provides thumping 808s and chirruping vocal samples, offering the perfect backdrop for Hurricane’s soulful, and emotionally raw singing: “They say life’s fast, count my money slow/Keep on falling out of love, I’m running out of road/I done gave all I can give, but I’m running low on hope/Ain’t got nothin’ to hold, okay, baby hold me.” Directed by Cotto, the video finds Hurricane on a recent vacation to Jamaica, where he rides sports car boats on the pristine blue Caribbean water, rides ATVs through the rainforest, and plays soccer on the beach with locals.

Released last week, Weathering The World is another sterling addition to Hurricane Wisdom’s catalog. The album is home to “Barbie Doll,” a viral collaboration with Chance The Rapper, which racked up over 18 million global streams, reached Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts, and is currently sits the Top 20 on Urban Radio, with over 160 adds in the past week alone. The album is currently being buoyed by “YK Where It’s Goin,” a fiery collaboration with Gunna, which has become one of the summer’s most viral hip-hop tracks, with over 25k Shazams in just 4 days and a spot at #23 on Apple Music’s Atlanta chart. Home to hit singles like “Over Now” (24 million worldwide streams) the Afrobeats-inflected “Living Up” (performed earlier this year on COLORS), and “My Life” (21 million worldwide streams), Weathering The World peaked at #7 on Apple Music’s All-Genre Albums charts (and at #4 on Apple Music’s Hip-Hop Albums Chart), and songs from the album have racked up over 100 million streams to date. Weathering The World is available on all platforms via Rebel/gamma.

Weathering The World continues to establish Hurricane’s status as one of the hottest young rappers in the world. In June, Hurricane was honored as a member of the 2026 XXL Freshman Class. Wisdom also earned Artist To Watch honors from Spotify and Complex at the beginning of 2026. The new album follows up last year’s Perfect Storm and Perfect Storm: Sorry 4 The Rain, each of which charted on the Billboard 200 and racked up hundreds of millions of streams, with hits like “Drugs Callin” (and its Lil Baby-featuring remix) and “Woosah” leading the way.

Keeping the pressure on as he thunders his way to the top of the rap game, Hurricane Wisdom is making a Category 5 impact on the industry. Sit back and watch him make landfall.

The Background:

Hurricane Wisdom had an outstanding 2025, during which he established himself as one of rap music’s most-exciting rising stars. After elevating in Summer 2024 with “Giannis” (over 60 million streams across platforms), named one of the best songs of that year by Pitchfork, Hurricane boosted his profile with two high-quality projects in 2025. In February, Hurricane dropped Perfect Storm. Home to “Giannis” (Remix) ft. Polo G, and additional hits like “Drugs Callin” and “On God” ft. Raq Baby, Perfect Storm charted on the Billboard 200 for three weeks (#126 peak).

Later in the year, Hurricane kept his streak going with Perfect Storm: Sorry 4 The Rain. More than a deluxe, Perfect Storm: Sorry 4 The Rain brings 17 original songs, not yet collected on any project, landing multiple weeks on the Billboard 200 with a peak of #54, debuting in the Top Ten of Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart and at #16 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The success of Sorry 4 The Rain was driven by a high-wattage remix to Hurricane’s viral hit “Drugs Callin,” featuring Lil Baby. Updating Future’s classic “Perkys Callin'” for a new era, “Drugs Callin” racked up over 50 million streams across platforms, while the remix music video reached #1 on YouTube’s Trending Chart. Complex placed “Drugs Callin” (Remix) at #36 on their list of 2025’s 50 Best Songs, and at #23 on their list of 2025’s 30 Best Rap Songs. At the end of the year, Audiomack revealed that “Drugs Callin'” was the most-streamed rap song on the platform in 2025, with Hurricane’s “Need Me” following suit at #4.

When Perfect Storm: Sorry 4 The Rain made landfall, Hurricane Wisdom’s hotness became undeniable. He performed “Rich Dropout” as his Lyrical Lemonade’s Lunch Break Freestyle (2.1 million views), and  made a standout appearance during On The Radar’s 2nd All-Star Cypher. In early 2026, the young rapper recently wrapped his “Perfect Storm: No Umbrellas Tour,” a headlining tour featuring several sold out dates.
