The North Florida Riser Continues to Break Out in a Big Way, Modifying His Melodies For a Buoyant Afrobeats Production To Celebrate the High Life

Hurricane Is Working Hard on the Follow-Up to His Billboard 200-Charting Perfect Storm: Sorry 4 The Rain, Home to Hits Like “Drugs Callin” (Remix) ft. Lil Baby and “On Stream” ft. reGGie

Critical Praise:

“Wisdom, from Havana (a tiny suburb of Tallahassee), fuses the tropical bounce of Florida street rap with the tenderness in the ballads of Southern and Midwestern truth-tellers. And the instrumental—flickering percussion and scattered, Broward County steel drums, merged with slow-mo, almost G-funk synths—is both melancholic and upbeat at the same time. It’s all rounded out by Wisdom’s raspy melodies, as he seamlessly toggles between no-frills aggression and lilts that hit like a sunshower.” – Pitchfork

“The Havana native broke down the regional barriers of Tallahassee with the twitchy “Giannis” in August, which picked up momentum like the Milwaukee Bucks superstar on a fast break to close out 2024. Hurricane narrates his gritty come-up but also delivers witty one-liners making light of his situation. He compares guns to the size of Giannis Antentokounmpo and jokes about not being good at math, but keeping problem-solvers around – if you catch his drift.” – Billboard

“Hurricane Wisdom Is On His Way To Becoming Rap’s Next Breakout Act” – UPROXX

“Dedicated to cultivating music that aims to uplift and inspire, Wisdom crafts his music for survivors and for the downtrodden soldiers who are giving their all to overcome adversity.” – The Knockturnal

The Video:

A melodic mastermind whose voice can mold to fit any instrumental, Hurricane Wisdom has the talent to be one of his generation’s biggest stars. The 24-year-old North Florida thrives when he leaves his element, traveling to Nigeria to create his new single “LIVING UP,” arriving today with a new music video. Produced by Rugged, a renowned Nigerian producer known for his work with Davido and others, “LIVING UP” is a joyful burst of cool keyboards, 3-step percussion, and sonorous log drums. Hurricane adapts well to his surroundings, adopting a slight Nigerian lilt to his vocals as he slides atop the cascading bass. Hurricane leads a choir of voices to turn the song into a sing-along anthem, perfect for anyone who wants to celebrate their wins.

The video documents Hurricane’s trip to Nigeria, where heads to Makoko, a unique neighborhood in the coastal island outskirts of Lagos, to meet the people. Directed by Why Blink Focus, the new clip is a testament to the power of music to cross borders and unite cultures, spreading a message of positivity that reflects Hurricane’s chorus. Following recent singles like “Dangerous” (1.2 million views), “Over Now” (2.5 million views since early February), and the late 2025 “My Life” (2.8 million views), which peaked at #9 on YouTube’s Trending Chart for Music, “LIVING UP” is available on all platforms via Rebel/gamma.

Keeping the pressure on as he thunders his way into 2026, Hurricane Wisdom is ready to make a Category 5 impact on the industry. Don’t sleep…a storm is coming.

The Background:

Hurricane Wisdom had an outstanding 2025, during which he established himself as one of rap music’s most-exciting rising stars. After elevating in Summer 2024 with “Giannis” (over 60 million streams across platforms), named one of the best songs of that year by Pitchfork, Hurricane boosted his profile with two high-quality projects in 2025. In February, Hurricane dropped Perfect Storm. Home to “Giannis” (Remix) ft. Polo G, and additional hits like “Drugs Callin” and “On God” ft. Raq BabyPerfect Storm charted on the Billboard 200 for three weeks (#126 peak).

Later in the year, Hurricane kept his streak going with Perfect Storm: Sorry 4 The RainMore than a deluxe, Perfect Storm: Sorry 4 The Rain brings 17 original songs, not yet collected on any project, landing multiple weeks on the Billboard 200 with a peak of #54, debuting in the Top Ten of Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart and at #16 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The success of Sorry 4 The Rain was driven by a high-wattage remix to Hurricane’s viral hit “Drugs Callin,” featuring Lil Baby. Updating Future’s classic “Perkys Callin'” for a new era, “Drugs Callin” racked up over 50 million streams across platforms, while the remix music video reached #1 on YouTube’s Trending ChartComplex placed “Drugs Callin” (Remix) at #36 on their list of 2025’s 50 Best Songs, and at #23 on their list of 2025’s 30 Best Rap Songs. At the end of the year, Audiomack revealed that “Drugs Callin'” was the most-streamed rap song on the platform in 2025, with Hurricane’s “Need Me” following suit at #4.

When Perfect Storm: Sorry 4 The Rain made landfall, Hurricane Wisdom’s hotness became undeniable. He performed “Rich Dropout” as his Lyrical Lemonade’s Lunch Break Freestyle (2 million views), and  made a standout appearance during On The Radar’s 2nd All-Star Cypher. The young rapper recently wrapped his “Perfect Storm: No Umbrellas Tour,” a headlining tour featuring several sold out dates.
