Critical Praise:
WINNER: 2023 Billboard Music Awards (“Top Duo/Group”; “Top Latin Duo/Group”)
“Belikeada is a testament to their ability to push boundaries while staying true to their roots, ensuring that that the group remains a reckoning force in the world of Mexican and Mexican-American music” – Billboard
“Fuerza Regida embodies the idea that if you work hard enough, you can achieve your version of the American Dream. This mindset is the subject matter for many of their songs (much of their music is either about the hustle, or the rewards that come from all that hard work). They’re not all talk, either. In the last 12 months, the band has released three albums and has gone on tour across the country.” – Los Angeles Times
“Shakira and Fuerza Regida defend the working class and tell off bad bosses everywhere in the new music video for their joint single ‘El Jefe,’ or ‘The Boss.'” – Variety
The Announcement:
Fuerza Regida took a leap of faith by changing up their style for their new album, Pero No Te Enamores, and their fans have responded in kind, giving the group one of their biggest streaming days to date. Just hours after the album’s release, yesterday, July 25th, at 5pm PT, Pero No Te Enamores climbed to #1 on Apple Music’s All-Genre Albums chart, topping albums by stars such as Eminem, Billie Eilish, and more. The new album is their second straight release to reach #1 on that prestigious chart, following their February 2024 EP, Dolidos Pero No Arrepentido.
Fuerza Regida and frontman Jesus Ortiz Paz celebrated the release of the album in a 2-part release party, held yesterday in Los Angeles. The party started in a beach house in Santa Monica, where the group counted down the seconds to the album’s release. The house party drew a massive crowd of fans and onlookers–after just 80 minutes, over 1000 fans had gathered around the house to hear the new music and watch JOP perform. After the band left Santa Monica, they headed to historically Mexican East L.A. neighborhood Boyle Heights for an official event, sponsored by Spotify, where the band performed the album in full and mingled with 500 of their Top Listeners.
New Music Friday has been kind to the band, who have earned major playlist placements at all streaming services, with JOP and Fuerza featuring as the cover artist for playlists like Spotfiy’s Viva Latino and Novedades Viernes (the Spanish language “New Music Friday”), Apple’s El Official, and Amazon’s Gen Mex. JOP and Fuerza are featured in Times Square billboards for streaming services like Spotify, YouTube, Apple, and Pandora, and are the subjects of a YouTube billboard in London. The new album earned mention in Billboard’s New Music Friday roundup, and JOP took interviews with heavy-hitters like Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Real 92.3’s Bootleg Kev, and more.
On Pero No Te Enamores, which translates to “but don’t fall in love,” Fuerza Regida catapult their corridos from the barrio to the club, weaving in elements of multiple high-energy genres into a singular mix. The group is led in its efforts by velvety-voiced frontman and songwriter Jesus Ortiz Paz, whose appealing rasp helps ground even the most far out flight of fancy with relatable relationship stories and furious flexes. The new album features production from well-known sound architects, including Gordo (fka Carnage) and Synthetic (Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock”), who help JOP and the rest of the group to get out of their comfort zone and create something new. Featuring guest spots from Maluma, Major Lazer, Alok, Gordo, Afrojack, and Bellakath, Pero No Te Enamores is available to stream everywhere via Rancho Humilde/Street Mob Records/Sony Music Latin
