Critical Praise for Eric Biddines:

“His delivery is unique, featuring high-pitched vocals and a Southern twang that is unmistakable.” – Complex

“[Eric Biddines] sounds like a cross-breed of Andre 3000 and Devin the Dude.”2Dopeboyz

“His music demonstrates a Dungeon Family-like propensity for interweaving harmonious refrains into complex flows to create a sound that sandwiches pure hip hop with layerings of funk and R&B. It’s a sound that doesn’t come by accident.” – BET

The Song:

Precisely targeting unconventional Dirty South slappers with his high-pitched drawl, soulful Floridian Eric Biddines thinks faster than the average man. Definitely faster than Elmer Fudd. Inspired by a JB Smoove stand-up skit and embracing his love of Saturday morning cartoons, Biddines created “Peeuurrnn,” an ode based on the shotgun sound effect of Elmer Fudd hunting Bugs Bunny during “wabbit season,” creating an unconventional banger about being audi, ghost, in another word, gone.

Produced by Upgrayde, the track finds Eric adopting a stuttering flow, bouncing off mutated snares and buzzing hi-hats, shouting down haters and escaping to planetcoffeebean, an idealistic utopia and a fixture in his music. Premiered today by XXL, “Peeuurrnn” is the latest single from The Local Cafe, which hits stores on January 27th.

Explains Eric Biddines to XXL,”‘Peeuurrnn’ is the teleportation and transference from one negative space to a positive space, faster than the speed of light. The inspiration behind making this song was me wanting to get out of my current situation of one, having not put out any music in a year and two, getting the hell out of Florida. People have told me that to win I need to get out of Florida fast and relocate because there’s not many opportunities here. ‘You ain’t gonna make nothin’ of yourself living here,’ they say. It’s true; I know every corner here too well. When you move out of your familiar surroundings, that two lane road opens up into a four-lane highway, and the opportunities present themselves. It’s night and day. I wanted to teleport out of my frustrations like *peeuurrnn!* I also just love making the sound.”

The Local Cafe is an in-depth exploration of life for an African-American in Palm Beach Country, rich with minute details and lived-in experiences illustrated by Eric’s precise wordplay and intricate songwriting. Premiered in November by The FADER, the first track shared from the project, “Whole Trunk” is a bass-heavy Dirty South declaration of prioritizing putting knock in your trunk above all else. Born in Central Florida to a family of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Eric moved to Palm Beach at the age of seven. As a child, he listened mostly to Soul and Motown, but at the age of 13, rap music changed his life. Inspired by hearing his hero Andre 3000 rap, “No drugs or alcohol so I can get the signal clear,” the young rapper swore away from drugs and alcohol. He started a rap career in 2009, building a loyal following and garnering critical acclaim for his music and his message. Releasing via Juggernaut Sound/ EMPIRE, in a partnership with music industry veteran, Richie Abbott, The Local Cafe, Eric’s first full-length since 2013, will spread Eric Biddines’ unique perspective to a wider audience.
