Sha EK Embraces the Burden of Rap Stardom in “Last One Left,” an Uplifting New Single

The Song:

September 29th, 2023 (Los Angeles, CA) – Bursting out of the Bronx with a booming voice and fiery passion, Sha EK carries his home borough on his back. Today, the 20-year-old rapper turns down the volume and delivers a mission statement with “Last One Left,” his new single. Produced by EMRLD & Wizical Beats, “Last One Left” is a departure from Sha’s usual high-octane drill, bringing a string-laden bounce that evokes the streetwise luxury of the G Unit era. Toning down his megaphone delivery, Sha reflects on his burgeoning rap stardom, promising to make the right moves and build a long career: “I be going through sh*t, but I’m never gonna fold/N**** my momma happy cause she see me growin old.”

“Last One Left,” is a single that will be featured in an upcoming documentary called “As We Speak,”  directed by Jason Harper and slated for release on Paramount+ / MTV in the first half of 2024, which that explores the weaponization of rap lyrics in America’s criminal justice system.

“Last One Left” is the latest salvo in a busy year for Sha EK. The Defiant Records signee teamed up with Bandmanrill and MCVERTT for Defiant Presents: Jiggy In Jersey (ft. MCVERTT) is an unstoppable 27-track behemoth that defines the developing hybrid genre. The album recently earned a strong review in Pitchfork (7.5), who said the project “fires on all cylinders.” The project earned additional coverage in Billboard, XXL, BET, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, and more. Jiggy In Jersey is home to highlight tracks like “Face Down,” MCVERTT’s collaboration with Ferg and Sexyy Red, which debuted at #27 on the brand new Billboard TikTok Top 50 chart, and “Mr. D.C.T. Pt. 2,” Bandman’s Crystal Waters-sampling collaboration with NYC riser Maiya The Don. Beyond Jiggy In Jersey, Sha has been keeping up his momentum on his own.
