With his natural magnetism and chameleonic style, DC The Don adds a thrilling flair to any sound he tries. Returning to his roots with the rage-ready style he cut his teeth on, DC exhibits his leveled-up artistry on his brand new video single, “STOP HATING.” Kicked off by a hectic, futuristic synth instrumental, DC’s vocal gravitas cuts through the frenetic production, bringing a sense of authority and cohesiveness to the track as he asserts his Don status: “Who brought the fire out?/B*tch, you teed up on a muhf*cking Monday, my young n****s still going viral.”

The video for “STOP HATING” finds DC in a secret lair, surrounded by tarp-covered muscle cars, power tools, and heavy machinery. The Milwaukee native moves through the scenery like Batman, but with the veil of his red and black locs shrouded over his eyes in place of a mask.

“STOP HATING” arrives as DC’s first new single since garnering a spot on the 2023 XXL Freshman Class. DC won the fan-voted 10th Spot competition to earn his place on the coveted Freshman list. The video arrives alongside DC’s XXL Freshman Freestyle, available to watch on the XXL YouTube channel.

DC’s new video and Freshman spot come hot on the heels of FUNERAL, DC’s third album, released in May. A diverse and tuneful body of work, FUNERAL takes an immersive look inside DC The Don’s world of hard-edged raps and hyperpop melodies, skillfully blending the two sides of his personality that dominated each half of last year’s ambitious My Own Worst Enemy. DC took FUNERAL on the road this spring, when he served as support for $NOT on his “Get Busy Or Die Tour,” alongside Night Lovell and Eem Triplin. The Background:

DC The Don is a rapper from Milwaukee, WI. In 2016, at the age of 16 and standing 6’7”, DC moved to Los Angeles to pursue a basketball career under Lavar Ball and alongside teammate LaMelo Ball. During this time, he fell in love with music and used his spare time to make experimental records which suddenly gained traction – As the public became increasingly aware of DC The Don’s talent for rapping, NBA player Lonzo Ball featured his song “Everything 1k” on the first Big Baller Brand shoe commercial, introducing DC The Don’s music to an even wider audience. DC signed to Rostrum Records in 2020, releasing his debut album Come As You Are on August 7th, generating over 125 million streams across platforms.
