A respected young voice in the Detroit scene, DaeMoney is ready to make his mark on his city and beyond. Today, the World Tour Mafia rapper shares “F*CK SLAE,” a new single and music video from his upcoming The Godson. Spitting over angelic synths and driving Michigan drums, the 23-year-old rapper showcases his talent for wordplay and flexes that’ll make you think twice: “By myself like Tom Hanks, but it’s syrup off the coconut / F*ck the b*tch she hate the most, now I’m over her / Always win like I’m Tom Brady, critics over sl*ts / Top of the city in every city, they can’t overlook me.” In the “F*CK SLAE” video, directed by Shot By AdamKG, DaeMoney makes himself at home in a gothic mansion that fits the track’s gritty yet opulent aesthetic, rapping at a dinner table surrounded by over-the-top chandeliers, glistening candelabras, and more.
“F*CK SLAE” continues DaeMoney’s 2024 hot streak, following up last month’s “King of the Hill” and further establishing him as one of the most promising artists in a bustling Michigan rap scene. As a member of World Tour Mafia, along with associates Scoob, Milt, Money Miles, and Solid, Dae put an insular spin on the Detroit sound, keeping the hard-hitting drums and slick punchlines, while adding a narcotic flow and incorporating dark sonics to better suit a head-nodding headphones experience. After emerging in the rap scene in 2020 with the first Slae Season tape, produced in full by Detroit sound architect Top$ide, Dae reconnected with his father, and through him, met Babyface Ray, who Dae was surprised to find was his blood uncle. Since then, Dae and Ray have been frequent collaborators, earning praise from The FADER for their “consistent excellence.” Dae’s heady style earned him co-signs from kindred spirits like Veeze and LUCKI, who joined him on his cult hit, “Gta” in 2021. He further burnished his reputation in his city with his Slae Season series of mixtapes, including Slae Season 3, featuring “Who Is That” ft. LUCKI, Veeze & Babyface Ray, which has nearly 10 million streams on Spotify.
Earlier this year, DaeMoney shared Rockstar Lifestyle 2, a mixtape which earned positive notices from The FADER. In contrast to the darker hued Slae Season tapes, Rockstar Lifestyle 2 is more celebratory and aspirational, with brighter beats and a wider complement of guests. LUCKI, Veeze, and Babyface Ray return for guest spots (the latter on local hit “Earned It“), while Dae also welcomes Karrahbooo and BabyTron for fun-loving team-ups.
