The Alamo Records Signee Shows Off His Unmatched Energy in the Brief, But Memorable Freestyle, Which Reached YouTube’s Top 10 Trending
“St. Louis teen Comethazine gave rap a shot, and got millions of streams in return. As his December 2017 video ‘Piped Up’ inches closer to 3 million views, it seems the young rapper made the right choice to leave the regular nine-to-five life behind” – XXL

Comethazine‘s facility with brash and confrontational bangers helped him earn his way to becoming a 2019 XXL Freshman. Today, Comethazine shares his 2019 Freshman Freestyle, which racked up over 60k views in its first hour of release. Staring daggers directly into the camera, the Alamo Records signee takes 30 seconds to all the qualities that make him special–rude attitude, violent flows, and lightning quick wordplay: “Used to be hurt for the cash, now that I’m rich, I can sit on my ass.” With over 510k views in its first day of release, the video peaked at #6 on YouTube’s trending chart. Comethazine will join the rest of the XXL Freshman live in concert at Playstation Theater in NYC on July 22nd.
Specializing in concise bursts of attitude and aggression, Comethazine is a new kind of rap star. Emerging again earlier this summer with a brand-new blood-red aesthetic, Comethazine announced Bawskee 3.5, his upcoming debut album. With irresistible hooks molded from clipped cadences and snide turns-of-phrase, Comethazine’s music hits like a jolt of adrenaline, providing an instant dose of turn-up for any situation. The latest installment in the Bawskee series of projects, which started in 2018 with Comethazine’s first mixtape, the upcoming album boasts the recent single “Just Saying.” Bawskee 3.5 arrives on July 26th via Alamo/Interscope.
Breaking onto the scene in 2018, Comethazine parlayed the success of viral singles like “Walk” and “Bands” and his first two Bawskee mixtapes into a spot on XXL’s 2019 Freshman Class. His biggest hit to date, with 105 million combined streams on Spotify alone, “Walk” recently earned a GOLD certification from the RIAA, and inspired a remix featuring A$AP Rocky. With hundreds of millions of streams across all platforms, 3.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and an Instagram following that tops 1.3 million, Comethazine is just getting started.

Born Frank Childress in 1998, St. Louis-native Comethazine was a lean-loving high-school dropout. Influenced by Nipsey Hussle, Odd Future, Lil B, and Chief Keef, he started rapping in 2015. He soon discovered that his initial output was not as well-received as party-oriented cloud rap, so he switched angles and scored a pair of local underground hits with “Run It” and “Hella Choppers.” The Aloe Vera EP landed in 2016, which resulted in a late-2017 deal with Alamo Records. A slew of short singles followed, including “Deathwish,” “Piped Up,” “Oowee,” and “Hero.” “Bands” became a viral hit, landing on his first full-length, Bawskee, which debuted on the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2018.
