The EP:

Bombastic force Chippy Nonstop has let loose her 5-track EP #finallyverified, which is available now on iTunes. Looking back, Chippy is proud of how the project came together: “I’m progressing more and more from here. I’m excited for everyone to hear the progression of my sound, which has happened even while staying in my own lane.” With total control over her creative process, Chippy is working in the manner that is most fruitful for her and using the tools around her, such as the amazing .GIF matching game that unlocks the track “Pimpin’ Season” and previews snapshots from the track’s upcoming video.

She explains this loose and free approach to creation, musing, “At first I had a certain idea in my head for the EP, but that’s really not a good way for me to work. I work very organically. I go into the studio and I make the beat with the producer as I feel it in the moment. Having preconceived ideas of what I want always get me in trouble. It was hard for me to let go of what I wanted it to sound like, versus how it’s actually going to turn out. Now that I think about it, I’m so glad I just let it happen naturally, rather than forcing a sound that wasn’t me.” This authenticity shines through across the project, which features collaborations with Kitty, Bukkweat Bill, and others. Chippy rocked the stage last night as part of the Red Bull Sound Select show at DROM in New York City alongside Bridget Kelly and others.

Chippy Nonstop is an audacious, undeniable party starter. She is of Indian descent but is more of a cultural nomad; she was born in Dubai, grew up in Zambia, has citizenship in Canada, and currently lives in Oakland. Chippy makes “electro-trap” music that combines dance, hip-hop, and world sounds. She was featured on the recent Kreayshawn, Major Lazer, Big Baby Gandhi and Star Slinger albums.
