The Song:

Chevy Woods dropped his latest single “Jeter,” named after the very familiar future hall-of-famer shortstop. Despite hailing from Pittsburgh, the Taylor Gang rapper decided to name his track after a NY sports hero, although we can definitely see why. As said by HotNewHipHop, “Jeter is actually a pretty good analog to the rap dream — franchise player, making a ton of money, sleeping with models, making hits.” The Bobby Johnson-produced track hits hard immediately, with rattling drums and ominous, arpeggiated synths followed by Wood’s powerful delivery.

“Jeter” is a loose track that follows The 48 Hunnid Project, Chevy Woods’ first commercial release after 12 years of dropping mixtapes. The Taylor Gang Ent. emcee has been honing his skills and growing his fanbase steadily over the years, and now he’s finding great success with The 48 Hunnid Project. Chevy got people hyped for the EP with visuals for tracks like “All Said and Done” featuring Dej Loaf, which premiered via i-DThroughout the EP, Woods is joined by a talent-packed cast such as Wiz Khalifa, OG Maco, Rico Love, and Post Malone.

Chevy Woods Background:

Chevy Woods has been building up momentum with his mixtapes Red Cup Music, The Cook Out, and the Gangland series, progressing his sound with each release. After years of writing and recording in his home studio, Chevy traded in his keyboard for cash to pay for studio time. In 2004, while recording at Pittsburgh’s I.D. Labs Studios, Chevy encountered Wiz Khalifa and the two instantly formed a bond. “Me and Wiz, we always had each other’s backs. Since we were both recording at I.D. Labs at the same time, we would hold each other down,” Chevy has explained. “Even if it was just picking up Wendy’s for the other one on our way to the studio.”
