The Babyface Ray-Signee Shares The Latest Video From His Versatile New Album PLANEBOY

A soulful wordsmith and veteran musician, Samuel Shabazz is making his way to the top of the Detroit rap game. Hot off the release of his PLANEBOY album last month, the Babyface Ray-signee shares the video for “DAXTON,” a highlight track from the project. Over thumping 808s and distorted horns, Sam shows off his tough-talking side, delivering relentless flexes about his deep pockets and hustling ways: “I really get this sh*t started, I ain’t been one to just be tryin’ / Ain’t no stoppin’ for your guy, get richer.” In the video, Sam heads to the luxury Michigan hotel the song is named after, posting up in a dimly-lit suite before heading to the club with some “planeboy” baddies. “DAXTON” continues Samuel Shabazz’s recent streak of videos from his June project PLANEBOY, including “SAY YES,” “1800 CALL SAM,” and “FOR YOU.” 

“DAXTON” is a highlight track from PLANEBOY, an 18-track effort featuring some of Motor City’s finest veterans and risers, including Babyface Ray, Talibando, Moxie Knox, and more. Inspired by both Sam’s love for aviation and the iconic Playboy “Big Bunny” private jet, the project finds Sam infusing the spirit of his hometown into his signature melodies. He shows off the lyrical talent that has earned him the title of “Detroit’s most sought-after collaborator,” experimenting with different sounds and styles on tracks like the emotional “MY BABY,” the energetic “IMA THROW THIS MONEY,” and the street banger “PLANEBOY PINK.”

PLANEBOY is Sam’s latest step in journey to the top of his city’s rap game. Growing up in Detroit’s Westside, he was introduced to music by his father, Uncle Sam, an R&B artist signed toBoyz II Men’s label during the 1990s. After spending years recording and honing his sound, Samuel met Babyface Ray through a mutual friend in 2014. The two artists bonded as brothers and began collaborating on music, like their 2019 collab album Product Of My Environment and hit track “Hall Of Fame” ft. Veeze (9M YT views). The track pushed Samuel onto new radars, leading to last year’s introspective I Changed My Mind and Samuel’s most streamed song to date “Dotted Line” ft. Veeze (1.5M YT views). 

Now with the release of PLANEBOY, the Detroit hero is ready to soar to new heights.
