THE RECAP:

Unique among North American festivals, Festival D’été de Québec takes over Québec City for 11 days each July, bringing a truly eclectic array of A-listers to multiple venues around the Quebecois capital. Continuing a tradition that started in 1968, FEQ returns for another fabulous year, presenting a variety of household names and promising risers across all genres.

FEQ kicked off on Thursday, July 9th with a headbangers’ ball, with a bill topped by nu-metal firebrands Limp Bizkit. The veteran group kept things rolling, following a raucous opening set from California legends, Cypress Hill. Friday turned the temperature down on the Bell Stage at the historic Plains of Abraham, bringing massively popular Americana outfit The Lumineers to inspire comforting tunes and invigorating sing-alongs. Fans looking to keep the party going flocked to a playful set by Canadian rapper bbno$, who brought antics and earworms in equal measure.  July 11th was Latin night on the Plains, headlined by “Despacito” hitmaker Luis Fonsi, who headlined a night that included Colombian artist ARIA VEGA and Montréal artists Cruzito and FRIKITON. Sunday night brought a rare summer sighting of British Columbia’s own loungemaster Michael Bublé, who treated the 80,000-strong crowd to an intimate evening. Elsewhere, fans could see theatrical Los Angeles-based art pop group Haute & Freddy and Quebecois indie pop outift Les Louanges.

For nearly 60 years, FEQ has bucked trends, selling out within minutes and providing fans with a bespoke experience, featuring music that can please fans of all stripes. The affordable, neighborhood-friendly festival delivers an event suitable for all ages, with transferrable tickets offered at a reasonable price, and a festive atmosphere that pervades beautiful Québec City for 11 days. Stay tuned for much more from this year’s festival, including performances from Gwen Stefani, Kesha, Jelly Roll, Muse, and many others.
