The Announcement:
An in-demand songwriter with Grammy nominations and multiple Billboard #1 hits to her name, Nija is equally talented in front of the mic as she is behind the scenes. Honing her craft in the years since her last solo project, Jersey’s Finest is ready to step into the spotlight once more, announcing her next project, What I Didn’t Say. Filled with inventive production touches and defined by Nija’s smoky alto, What I Didn’t Say is a sultry and perceptive commentary on modern love, peppered with witticisms and littered with infectious melodies. The official follow-up to her 2022 debut album, Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You, What I Didn’t Say, arrives on January 23, 2026 via Amnija LLC.
Along with the announcement of the upcoming project, Nija releases “I Just Called,” her new single, a collaboration with West Coast sensation Blxst. A sumptuous situationship slow jam, produced by Jack Rochon, “I Just Called” finds the New Jersey native wrestling with conflicting emotions ragarding her relationship, which while turbulent, still boasts a foundation of deep love. During his verse, Blxst plays the significant other, who resolves do what he can to rectify his relationship and make things right. The two vocalists demonstrate a lived-in chemistry, as they close the song with dueling ad-libs. “I Just Called” arrives with a striking music video, starring Nija and Blxst, which dramatizes the song’s central romantic conflict.
The upcoming project is home to Nija’s recent singles, including the shimmering “Back Outside,” covered by Rated RnB, he sultry “32nd Floor,” which earned coverage in UPROXX, VIBE, BET, and more, and the Jack Rochon-produced “Heaven.” Producers who helped Nija craft the record include Jack Rochon, Mike Hector, Christian McCurdy, Serge Dior, and more.
The artist started her new artistic era in October 2024 with “Unruly,” a confident, bass-heavy single that harkened back to her origins with a special From The Block filmed in her Jersey hometown. The single earned praise from Billboard, Rated R&B, and BET, who said, “Now independent and carving her own path, ‘Unruly’ signals the start of an exciting new chapter in her career—one that brings her back to her roots while pushing boundaries in her sound.” Most recently, Nija wrote on “Shower Tears,” a collaboration between Cardi B and Summer Walker on Cardi B’s chart-topping album, AM I THE DRAMA?.

Nija Charles, artist, songwriter, and producer, has already contributed towards 16 Grammy nominations, two number 1’s on Billboard Hot 100 and has also landed a spot on Forbes “30 under 30” list.
