“…the variety of ideas, flows, beats, and styles on display is enough to mark him out as an essential rising artist.” – Pigeons & Planes
“His distinctive voice and thoughtfully-orchestrated deliveries are perhaps his two most prominent strengths” – Pigeons & Planes
“It’s a special sight to see Wesson’s artistry becoming increasingly refined, one track after another” – Lyrical Lemonade
Exploring the recesses of his mind to craft intricate rhymes, Atlanta rapper Wesson Desir cuts against the grain of his city’s rap scene. After putting in his 10,000 hours perfecting his rhymes and adding to his arsenal of flows, Wesson is ready to announce Apollo Archives, his upcoming debut project. Taking its title from the Greek god of healing, archery, and music, Apollo Archives gets its power from Wesson’s dense lyricism, mixing SoundCloud favorites like “.22“ and “Dirty Dan” with new highlights that show Wesson’s facility with melody and elite-level conceptual thinking. Featuring recently released singles like “Zeus” and “Let’s Ride Our Heelies To The Cosmos,” Apollo Archives arrives on October 21st and is currently available for pre-order.
To accompany the announcement of the project, Wesson shares the video for “Dirty Dan.“ Marked by a distinct upright bassline and ghostly saxophone squalls, “Dirty Dan” finds Wesson stacking assonant syllables, painting pictures with words and crafting a hook out of onomatopoeiac utterances. Directed by Chris Thomas of The End Of New York Productions, “Dirty Dan” finds Wesson wandering through a haze, haunted by memories of a traumatic night. He recalls blood on his shirt, and an encounter with a beautiful woman, but he can’t determine what’s real and what was just a dream. Wesson emerges from his apartment and walks the streets of NYC’s Chinatown, before finding himself in a dingy basement. Originally released in 2019, “Dirty Dan” caught the attention of taste-making blogs like Lyrical Lemonade and Pigeons & Planes, who praised the rapper as “an essential rising artist.”
“Dirty Dan” is Wesson’s third video of the year, following the Pigeons & Planes-premiered “.22” (92k views) and the philosophical, ELEVATOR-premiered clip for “Let’s Ride Our Heelies To The Cosmos” (128k views since its September 9th release). Stay tuned for more information about Apollo Archives, as Wesson looks to transcend cult figure status and give the world a taste of his immense talent.
