Video: Casanova – “So Drippy” ft. Gunna & Young Thug
The East Flatbush Native Connects with Some ATLiens in a Complex-Premiered Video to Bring a Highlight from Behind The Scars to Luxurious Life
Critical Praise:
“Unlike most current New York rappers, Casanova opts to body tracks akin to the days of G-Unit or Dipset, brandishing rapid-fire flows and throaty growls full of malice that are equally as menacing as his 6’4” frame.” – HipHopDX
“Thanks to Casanova’s strapping voice, charismatic personality, and unyielding confidence, “Don’t Run” set New York’s music scene ablaze…With an already convincing résumé, Casanova isn’t slowing down anytime soon.” – Billboard
“Move over fake rappers because Casanova is out to prove he’s the real deal. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native (Flatbush to be exact) isn’t faking the funk when it comes to his reality; he prides himself on being authentic and serving lyrics based on real life events rather than fabrication.” – XXL
The Video:
A tough-talking rapper and an inspiring community figure, NYC rhymer Casanova ascended to his city’s A-List in 2019. Keeping the party going into the new decade, Cas shares “So Drippy,” his latest music video, premiered by Complex. A collaboration with on-fire ATL trappers Young Thug and Gunna, “So Drippy” combines Casanova’s gruff street stories with the YSL rhymers’ unique rhyming style, creating an anthem as hypnotic as it is hard-hitting. In the video, directed by Marc Diamond, Cas joins Gunna and Thugger in the VIP section of an opulent club, enjoying the scenery and sipping bubbly before Cas retires to a back room to handle business. “So Drippy” is the latest video from Behind These Scars, Casanova’s 2019 album.
Comprised of a breathless 10-tracks, Behind These Scars traces Casanova’s path from poverty to prison to prominence, carefully examining every aspect of the rising star’s life. Expanding on the quintessential NYC story started with the Flatbush native’s 2018 project Commissary, Behind These Scars touches on every aspect of Casanova’s life, from soulful reflections on his time in prison like the Complex-premiered “Live,” to confrontational and aggressive bangers like “Knock Knock,” to gritty and resilient tracks like “Stay Wit It.” The project boasted the Chris Brown-featuring “Coming Home,“ which earned airplay on urban radio, and the Fabolous-featuring hometown anthem “So Brooklyn,” the inspiration behind the #SoBrooklyn challenge, which compelled dozens of luminaries like Young M.A., DMX, G Herbo, Wyclef Jean, and many more, to record their own versions of the song. Featuring additional appearances from Jeremih, Giggs, and KayCyy Pluto, Behind These Scars is available everywhere via Roc Nation, in partnership with Republic Records.

The Background:
Casanova 2X elbowed his way into rap’s competitive coliseum. Armed with the infectious warning shot “Don’t Run,” the Brooklyn rhyme rookie simultaneously made a name for himself and scored early success at radio and streaming platforms. His robust energy and primal charisma consumed the entire New York City tri-state area, convincing hip-hop heads to adopt his signature salute, “Boom Boom Boom!” Certified by the years he spent incarcerated, Casanova’s debut EP Commissary—featuring guest appearances from Chris Brown, Fabolous, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and G-Eazy—established him as one of hip-hop’s hottest rising stars. Off parole and ready to see the world, Casanova let his artistry fly first class with the recent release of his aptly titled Free At Last EP, released in 2019. Stay tuned for Behind These Scars, arriving in October 2019.
