Remix: Caleborate ft. Big K.R.I.T. – “Soul”

The Berkeley Riser Finds a Kindred Spirit as He Announces the Real Person Tour, Kicking Off February 22nd

1.9.2018

Critical Praise for Caleborate

“Caleborate delivers his rhymes with the confidence of a vet” – Complex

“Caleborate is a soulful MC with a 2017 album that should not be overlooked” – Ambrosia For Heads

“Caleborate is the type of rapper we music journalists hope to find. He’s completely himself without being too far out there. He seems to be a student of the J Cole, Murs and Kendrick school of Hip Hop but keeps his flow and delivery authentic.” – Earmilk

“Berkeley, Calif.’s Caleborate is one of the best rappers in the East Bay right now.” – XXL

The Remix and Announcement:

A charismatic rising rapper from the East Bay, Caleborate turns heads with his clever wordplay and exquisite taste in soulful production. In 2017, Caleborate released the anti-sellout anthem “Soul,” which garnered nearly 2 million streams on Spotify, was featured on Ebro Darden’s Beats 1 radio show, and earned a spot on Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist. Today, the young rapper teams up with Mississippi mainstay Big K.R.I.T. for “Soul” (Remix), premiered by Complex. K.R.I.T. and Caleb deliver spirited flows on the track, refusing to follow commercial trends that compromise their artistry. Years of building an underground fanbase paid off with commercial success for Big K.R.I.T. in 2017, and at the rate Caleborate is moving, his break is just around the corner.

Propelled by the momentum of his acclaimed Real Person album, Caleborate announces The Real Person Tour, starting on February 22nd. Beginning in Caleborate’s hometown of Berkeley, CA, the Real Person Tour passes through several dates in California and the Pacific Northwest, before making its way to Austin for SXSW, and culminating in an East Coast run, including a stop at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on March 30th. Joined by Yeek and Khary for select dates, tickets are available now at TBKTR.

The follow-up to 2016’s autobiographical 1993, Real Person represents the next chapter in Caleborate’s underdog story, with songs that focus the young rapper’s problems into sharp relief. The project finds the burgeoning 24-year-old confronting his relationships, his career goals, the current presidential administration, and his struggle breaking through to the mainstream despite his superlative talent.  Featuring production from Ian McKee, Lege Kale, Chonchies, Drew Banga, and Willem Ardui, and guest appearances from 1-O.A.K. and Donte Thomas, Real Person is an accomplished and mature effort, bursting with pathos and brimming with head-nodding instrumentals.

The Background:

A Berkeley bred student of hip-hop and all around eclectic artist, Caleborate has been renowned as one of the games most promising emcees. With lyrics that represent the unique struggles of the average 20-something, and stanza’s about the day to day grind as a collegiate youth, he covers topics far and wide and is anything but shallow. After being awarded the “Best Hip Hop Album of The Bay Area” in 2015 by SF Weekly, Caleborate is poised to sit cross-legged atop the hip-hop genre someday.
