The Song:

Continuing his successful string of releases, Oakland’s own C-Money returns with a new joint certain to become California’s newest party anthem. “We Say,” premiering via The Smoking Section, is the latest single released from his upcoming Just 4 You EP, available December 9th. “We Say” is a day in the life of Oakland’s unofficial mayor who serves as the Bay Area’s tour guide to a night out on in the West. As The Smoking Section states, “C-Money sounds like the latest ambassador for Oakland, bringing the city and region’s sound to other locales. Over a beat that even Mustard would envy, C-Money hips us to the norm of his area, with plenty of ‘hellas’ involved.”

Set to the backdrop of booming 808’s and a haunting synth melody, he references all things Cali, from yiking to Mac Dre to puffin’ on Cookies. “I got hella gold/hella whips, got hella hoes/yea they love the kid,” raps C-Money as he takes listeners on a trunk rattling ride through post-hyphy Oakland by keeping things strictly West Coast.  “We Say” follows Complex’s premiere of “Shut It Down,” featuring HBK Gang’s Kool John. Last month, Nah Right debuted his collaboration with Too $hort,Keep Up.” These releases have continued to develop the buzz that C-Money began building with the IAMSU-assisted “Play That” video, which has exceeded 100K views.

“We Say” is from C-Money’s forthcoming Just 4 You EP, which will be released December 9th.

C-Money Background:

With a smooth style and a jovial demeanor, Oakland California rapper, C-Money is easy to get along with. Part of what makes C’s music stand out is his careful balance of lyricism and style. “I have an East Coast flare with a West Coast style,” he describes, citing Wu-Tang Clan and Scarface as primary songwriting influences. “With the punchlines, a lot of artists are just gonna be limited to that. I’m a melodic artist, who rides that beat—so I get both of those. Plus, my sound is catchy.” Like Bay rappers are known for, C-Money’s slapping beats fit the strip club, but between his own catchy choruses, he stuffs the bars with honesty, wisdom, and life—unlike many of today’s rappers—things he’s actually lived.  Look out for C-Money’s debut EP, Just 4 You, featuring Iamsu! and Kool John of HBK Gang and more, available December 9th
