One of the most consistent and respected rappers in the underground, BIGBABYGUCCI has been building a cult following over the last few years with his energetic delivery and taste for otherworldly instrumentals. Now ready to bring his uncompromising and infectious sound to the masses, the North Carolina native announces his upcoming project, Baby 5, coming this summer. With the announcement, BIGBABYGUCCI shares “Balenciaga Store Closed,” a new single from the forthcoming album.
Atop space age production, Gucci brings his signature cutthroat, high-energy melodies to “Balenciaga Store Closed.” He delivers bold, yet effortless flexes: “I just made Balenci keep the store open, I just bought a Tesla with the wings and left the door open / I’ll see you later in this V8 turbo, imma skirt on a hater.” Fitting with the otherworldly production, he later says, “Phone home, I’m a extraterrestrial, your b*tches gone.” Gucci also teases his upcoming project on the track: “I’m Baby 5, b*tch watch your mind, who you tryna be.”
Baby 5 will be BIGBABYGUCCI’s first official project of 2024, following a busy 2023 in which he released four standalone albums. An extremely prolific artist, the Charlotte native has been buzzing in the underground since his debut 2016 project A F*cking Mixtape, now renamed ART HOE Collection on streaming services. At the age of 18, he established what would become 1500Forever, a collective of artists, producers, filmmakers, photographers, and designers, all whom he would eventually meet through Twitter, which fueled his creative energy into multiple new projects, including his breakout mixtape Romance Isn’t Dead. BBG eventually went on to release “Drop Top Lexus” (17.8M Spotify streams), his biggest song to date. His cult following grew even larger with hits like 2020’s “Can’t Feel Shit” (7.8M Spotify streams) and 2021’s “Seeing Ghosts” (4.3M streams).
