The Project:

Creating no-holds-barred Memphis bangers with his force of personality and prodigious bars, Big Moochie Grape can’t be stopped. Making the most of his time behind bars, Moochie proves that he’s still “gigantic” with his project, East Haiti Baby: Incarcerated, an expansion of his 2022 album East Haiti Baby. The new tape is home to recent singles “Workin,” a BandPlay-produced heater that shows why the Paper Route Empire rapper has the mentality to succeed, and the simmering, ultra-confident “Going Crazy,“ plus nine more flex-heavy helpings of sinister street rap.

Befitting the project’s theme, East Haiti Baby: Incarcerated welcomes guest verses exclusively from other incarcerated rappers. On “I Made It,” the PRE rhymer welcomes YFN Lucci, who turns in a sing-song counterpoint to Moochie’s machine gun patter, while the aptly-named “Bars” unites Moochie with Flint all-star Rio Da Yung OG. “L.A. Lakers” is a PRE reunion, as Moochie and Big Unccc run an expert two-man game like LeBron and AD. Notably, the project welcomes an interlude from C-Murder, a close friend of Moochie’s late mentor Young Dolph, the No Limit soldier who has been locked up for decades and has much wisdom to share. Featuring an additional guest appearance from Bankroll Freddie, East Haiti Baby: Incarcerated is available all on platforms via Paper Route Empire.

Big Moochie Grape burst onto the scene in 2019, with boisterous Memphis rap tunes like “Uh Huh Uh Huh Uh Huh,” which appeared on his debut EP, Eat Or Get Ate. Inspired by his late PRE mentor Young Dolph, Moochie went hard in 2022, releasing East Haiti Baby, home to street hits like the Bandplay-produced “Acting Up” (28 million Spotify streams) and “Christopher Wallace” (10 million Spotify streams). The mixtape earned praise from Pitchfork, who said “the Young Dolph associate’s latest album is full of hard-working hustler music that never lets up.”
