“If you’ve heard anything about Baja Beach Fest — the reggaeton and Latin hip-hop festival coming to Rosarito, Mexico’s historic Papas & Beer this weekend — you know this: It’s a party. Like a big, wild, sprawling, bucket-list rager. And while other festivals seek to widen their reach by bringing in digital artists, broadening the genres they focus on, or adding in a health component, Baja Beach Fest is staying true to its identity.” – UPROXX

The Announcement:
Growing from a single-day bash to a three-day behemoth in just three years, Baja Beach Fest has quickly become the world’s premier showcase for the hottest in Latin music. After postponing the 2020 festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Reggaeton & Latin Music Festival plans to return even bigger in 2021, announcing a star-studded lineup headlined by Anuel AA, J Balvin, and Ozuna.
“We wanted to meet you all at BBF this year more than anything,” said the festival organizers in an Instagram statement. “However, after exploring multiple avenues to try and make it work for 2020, we exhausted all potential options. At the end of the day, the health and safety of our attendees, our team, and the Baja community must come first and foremost. On the bright side, postponing 2020 motivates us like crazy to make 2021 extra special! We’re not holding back…The Reggaeton and Latin Music Festival is going BIGGG for 2021!”
Expanding on the sold-out 2019 festival, BBF 2021 ups the ante by adding a third day of nonstop Latin Music and Reggaeton. Revealed in a Billboard exclusive, third edition of the festival assembles a Latin lineup for the ages, offering appearances from stars like Karol G, Sech, Farruko, Becky G, Kali Uchis, Dalex, Jhay Cortez, Guaynaa, El Alfa, Lunay, DJ Luian, Justin Quiles, Myke Towers, Sky Rompiendo, and many more. Baja Beach Fest returns to Rosarito Beach, MX on August 13th-15th, 2021. Tickets are available on now at BajaBeachFest.com
In February, before the lockdown, Baja Beach Fest sold out all pre-sale tickets for the 2020 festival in a matter of hours. Earlier this month, the festival contacted all pre-sale holders and informed them of their options for 2021, promising to honor 2020 pre-sale passes for the 2021 festival and offering a refund for those who can no longer attend. The refund option will remain open for the next seven days to give guests time to make their decision.
“In the meantime, we’re hoping all of you and your loved ones stay safe, stay healthy, and stay positive because amazing things are on the way,” say the festival organizers.
The third edition of Baja Beach Fest, Baja Beach Fest 2021 looks to build on the success of the 2019 festival. With headliners like Ozuna, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin, BBF 2019 earned rave reviews from the likes of Billboard, Pollstar, Vice, L.A. Times, and more for its outstanding music, diverse and enthusiastic crowd, and positive vibes. The festival was voted the “Best New Festival in North America” by readers of USA Today.

The Background:
When Ozuna and Mark B sang “El día está pa’ playa y arena, la vamos a pasar muy bien” in 2016, they very well may have been foreseeing the launch of the Baja Beach Fest two years later. The first and only festival of its kind–celebrating the Latin community, beach vibes, and young Reggaeton & Latin music–Baja Beach Fest is held on the sand of the oceanfront resort of Rosarito, creating an all-encompassing experience of music and coastal feels. It was imagined into existence by two friends, Chris Den Uijl and Aaron Ampudia, and dedicated to the local community who wanted to bring the world’s most streamed artists together for a weekend of music. In 2019, the sold-out festival expanded to two days and 30,000 tickets, boasting headlining performances from Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Nicky Jam, Becky G, and the first-ever festival appearance by Ozuna. Expanding to three days, Baja Beach Fest returns to Rosarito on August 13th- 15th, 2021.
