THE RECAP:

Baja Beach Fest put on an unforgettable weekend of nonstop Latin music and Reggaeton. Sunday found festival-goers in a celebratory mood, as the passionate fans were treated to sets by some of the biggest stars of the genre.

The night closed with a flashy performance from global superstar J Balvin, who played songs from his 2020 hit Colores album, new songs from his upcoming album José, and brought out special guest Nio GarciaBecky G delivered bangers in both English and Spanish, and Rauw Alejandro proved why he’s one of Latin music’s hottest commodities with his pure-voiced melodies. The fest also welcomed “Relación” and “Otro Trago” hitmaker Sech, powerhouse singer-songwriters Justin Quiles and Jhay Cortez, and Chilean singer Paloma Mami.

This edition of Baja Beach Fest provides a blueprint for festivals in this uncertain time, paving a path forward for fans to enjoy live music in a communal setting. The festival enacted safety protocols to protect guests–fans were required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test from COVID Clinic–but the fest’s positive vibes inspired fans to protect each other, masking up to make sure the Perreo could go on.

Not content with just one epic weekend of live music, Baja Beach Fest plans to do it all again this coming weekend. Tune in to see encore performances from J Balvin, Ozuna, Karol G, and others, plus more surprises.

Menos hate, mas perreo!

THE BACKGROUND:

When Ozuna and Mark B sang “El día está pa’ playa y arena, la vamos a pasar muy bien” in 2016, they very well may have been foreseeing the launch of the Baja Beach Fest two years later. After a remarkable inaugural year,  Baja Beach Fest is back for its sophomore year, celebrating the Latin community, beach vibes, and young Latin trap/reggaeton music. The first and only festival of its kind –– Baja Beach Fest Fest is held on the sand of the oceanfront resort of Rosarito, creating an all-encompassing experience of music and coastal feels. It was imagined into existence by two friends, Chris Den Uijl and Aaron Ampudia, and dedicated to the local community who wanted to bring the world’s most streamed artists together for a weekend of music. The 2021 edition of Baja Beach Fest brings an expansion from one two-day weekend to two three-day weekends, and promises performances from headliners Anuel AA, J Balvin, Ozuna, and Karol G.
