Paramount Games Studio Takes Over New York City with Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game During New York Comic Con

The multi-day celebration featured a mysterious Central Park monolith, a 64-player gaming tournament, and a 10-foot crocheted Appa.

The Announcement:

October 13, 2026 — In celebration of New York Comic Con, Paramount Games Studio brought Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game beyond the convention floor with a series of public installations and fan experiences across Manhattan.

The campaign culminated in a fan event and competitive gaming tournament at OS NYC in Chinatown on October 9.

Earlier in the week, a mysterious monolith bearing the symbols of the Four Nations appeared in Central Park. On October 8, fans competed against a game developer in a “Beat the Dev” challenge for a chance to win official merchandise, with gameplay projected onto a nearby building by projection specialists Wally.

At OS NYC, the celebration centered on a 64-player tournament featuring a $1,750 total prize pool. Hosted by streamer @YOSENSEII, the competition was broadcast live on Avatar Legends’ official Twitch channel. The tournament champion received a $1,000 first-place prize and their choice of sneakers from the Avatar Legends x Reebok collection. The collection was also showcased on-site, giving attendees an opportunity to see the collaborative designs up close.

Throughout the venue, attendees enjoyed Four Nations-inspired food and beverages developed in collaboration with Potluck Club NYC, interactive photo opportunities, and appearances by members of the game’s development team and voice cast, including Da-Ni Lin, the voice of Aang.

Among the installations was a 10-foot-long crocheted Appa, created by artist Shayla Palmer. Weighing more than 500 pounds, the handcrafted sculpture offered attendees a photo opportunity alongside one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters.
