Earning accolades from some of the game’s most influential tastemakers, melodic Milwaukee native 414JungleBaby has a sound all to her own. The rising rapper continues to push her city’s sound forward with “Blocklist,” her new single. A jolt of energy with percolating synths and thumping percussion, “Blocklist” is a showcase for Jungle’s earworm melodies, as she chronicles her latest accomplishments and eagerly plans to flex in her haters’ faces: “You live once so go hard, babe/Who cares bout what they thinkin’, so what, babe/I’m like ‘what you drinkin?’, pour up, babe/Took ’em off my blocklist they gon have to watch this,” she sings.
“Blocklist” is the latest glimpse of Everybody Watching, Jungle’s next mixtape, hitting the internet next week. Following the anthemic “Hit A Right,” which released earlier this month, Everybody Watching finds Jungle dealing with the pressures of newfound fame, as she dismisses naysayers and hangers-on with sugary vocals and venomous bars. Spanning 9 tracks, the tape follows-up May’s JUNGLE THIS JUNGLE THAT, her debut EP, building on the tape’s momentum with tighter songwriting and souped-up production. With production from heavy-hitters like Helluva and a guest appearance from a fellow rising rapper to be announced, Everybody Watching arrives on September 4th via 300 Ent.
414JungleBaby’s distinctive aesthetic has caught the attention of veterans in her hometown, who have pegged her as the Brew City’s next big thing. Growing up in Milwaukee’s streets, Jungle grew a hard shell, and music was the outlet she used to let her true feelings out. The rapper set herself apart in the scene with her expressive melodies, which allow her to float atop her city’s trademark snares with style and grace. Jungle has collaborated with Milwaukee veterans like Chicken P and SME TaxFree.
Earlier this year, made noise with her debut EP, JUNGLE THIS JUNGLE THAT, home to “Yo Baby,” which was named “Best New Track” by Pitchfork, drew the attention of stars like Sexyy Red, Veeze, and J.P., and generated over 1 million views on an Instagram clip of its On The Radar performance. Released by 300 Ent., the EP featured new collaborations from heavy-hitters like Montana 700, Fox BD, and FWC Big Key.
With Everybody Watching coming next week, 414JungleBaby plans to make the game pay attention to her undeniable skills. With her history of defying the odds, it would be unwise to bet against her.
