A galvanizing force in NYC’s drill scene, Sheff G understands the responsibility he has to uplift the members of his Brooklyn community. Dealing with expectations and heavy responsibilities, all while reflecting on his past choices from behind bars, Sheff officially announces Weight On Me: The Album, his next album. The album arrives as Sheff G continues his journey in accountability, maintaining strong positive and creative spirits through his prison sentence. Home to recent singles like “Eat Work Pray” and “HIM,” Weight On Me: The Album mixes heavy subject matter with airy party anthems, as Sheff looks to demonstrate he can run a NYC summer, even from behind bars. His first new album since 2024’s Proud Of Myself, Weight On Me: The Album arrives on July 24thvia Winners Circle / RCA Records.
Along with the announcement of the album, Sheff shares “All In,” a powerful new single. Ditching percussion and rhyming over emotional piano and chirruping vocal samples, courtesy of Winners Circle producer Great John, Sheff bares his soul, wondering if his past actions will prevent him from finding the forgiveness and peace he desires: “Tired of this sh*t, feel like giving up/But if I leave the game would the fans still love me?,” he asks. The video, live on Sheff’s YT channel at 3pm ET, features footage captured before Sheff began his current bid, as he looks down upon his city and contemplates his role in his community. The video features clips from a recent concert, where Sheff basked in the glow of his adoring fans. A pioneer of his home borough’s drill explosion, Sheff G first began making music while he was still in high school. He quickly garnered buzz with his debut track “4 Them Racks”, a release that led to his 2017 breakout moment with explosive underground hit, “No Suburban,” later followed-up in 2020 with the Gold-certified “No Suburban Pt. 2.” Rocking pigtail braids and a Puma tracksuit, Sheff popularized a style entirely his own, quite pronounced amid a flurry of EP releases, which led to his critically-lauded debut studio album One and Only. An undeniable trailblazer in the genre space, Sheff quickly rose to prominence, boasting a flurry of Platinum and Gold-certified records across his projects and up to 2024’s Proud of Myself. Sheff also garnered hits alongside friend and fellow artist/labelmate Sleepy Hallow, such as the Gold-certified “Tip Toe‘.’ A testament to the Winners Circle CEO’s enduring legacy and continued influence in the drill genre, despite controversies, when the NY rapper’s inquisitive nature, found him experimenting with new sounds on his 2024 LP, while still delivering the high-energy anthems he’s known for. The softer sound he’s crafted alongside Sleepy, continues to reverberate through the drill scene today.
