The Announcement:
June 23, 2026 – Los Angeles — Fresh off his production placement on Drake’s chart-topping Iceman album with the standout record “2 Hard 4 The Radio,” Bay Area native, multi-platinum producer, songwriter, and artist P-Lo returns with the announcement of his forthcoming album, Out The Box, unveiled via a cinematic trailer featuring NFL legend Marshawn Lynch. The announcement marks a defining moment in P-Lo’s artistic evolution as he prepares to release one of his most personal and ambitious projects to date this summer.
Directed by esteemed videographer Jeremy Mayhew, popularly known as Jammy, the trailer—released across P-Lo’s social platforms—introduces Out The Box as more than an album title, but a creative philosophy rooted in breaking boundaries and moving beyond conventional limitations. For P-Lo, the project reflects a career-long approach defined by artistic freedom—unrestricted by genre expectations, industry structure, or regional stereotypes—while remaining deeply grounded in Bay Area culture and identity.
That “Out The Box” mentality has long defined P-Lo’s artistry. As a producer, songwriter, and artist, he has consistently carved out a lane defined by innovation and range—merging hyphy-rooted energy with forward-thinking hip-hop to create a sound that is both culturally grounded and globally resonant. From crafting records built for Bay Area function to contributing to major mainstream moments, his work reflects a commitment to evolution, experimentation, and creative freedom without compromise.
The visual is further elevated by the presence of Marshawn Lynch, a fellow Oakland native whose career has embodied the same principles of authenticity, independence, and resistance to outside definition. Known globally for his dominance on the field and locally for his unwavering connection to Oakland, Lynch represents the cultural DNA of the Bay in its purest form. His appearance reinforces the project’s core message: greatness built on remaining true to self, even when it defies expectation.
Together, P-Lo and Marshawn Lynch create a powerful intergenerational bridge between music and sports culture, both rooted in Oakland and both representing a broader Bay Area ethos—resilience, originality, and pride in being unapologetically different. The collaboration further cements the Bay as a creative force that continues to shape global culture across disciplines.
Out The Box arrives this summer via Everywhere Like Air / EMPIRE. Additional details including tracklist and features will be announced in the coming weeks.
