The Announcement:

Never one to back down from a challenge, LUCKI released Dr*gs R Bad on a packed New Music Friday, knowing that his loyal fans would run up the project no matter who else dropped. LUCKI’s bold gamble seems to have paid off: Dr*gs R Bad is on track to become the biggest-selling album of his career, setting new streaming marks for the Multi-Platinum rapper and aiming for a Top 10 chart position on this week’s Billboard 200. Over the weekend, the album peaked at #4 on Apple Music’s All-Genre Albums chart (it currently sits at #5), only trailing Drake’s three new albums. Dr*gs R Bad performed equally well on Spotify, where LUCKI was the 10th-most streamed artist on the platform this weekend, ahead of behemoths like The Weeknd and Kanye West. Overall, the album is on pace for the biggest debut of LUCKI’s career.

On Friday, LUCKI rewarded his fans for running up his album by dropping the video for “Picky Demons :),” a highlight from the new album. Produced by LUCKI’s regular collaborators Bhristo and Yung Icey, who mix in a sample of Run-DMC’s classic “It’s Tricky,” “Picky Demons :)” layers ice cold synths atop seismic 808s and skittering percussion, creating a pristine environment for LUCKI’s introspective rhymes: “I got angels on my back, I got demons in my bank account,” he intones. In the video, LUCKI visits the famous LACMA light installation in Los Angeles during breaks from his busy recording schedule, rocking designer and toting racks wherever he goes.

“Picky Demons :)” is the second song on Dr*gs R Bad, LUCKI’s first full-length since 2024’s GEMINI. Dr*gs R Bad is a wide-ranging effort that chronicles the rapper’s complicated relationship with illicit substances, diving into the conflict between their positive effect on his creativity and negative effect on his state of mind. The album is one of LUCKI’s most ambitious to date, subsuming high-wattage guests like Lil Baby, Veeze, Lil Yachty, and Rylo Rodriguez into his warped world. Crafted with the help of regular collaborators like Brent Rambo and Bhristo, Dr*gs R Bad spans 20 new tracks, each exploring a corner of LUCKI’s bleakly hedonistic worldview. The album’s second disc collects some of LUCKI’s buzzing singles released since his last album, 2024’s GEMINI!, including I Don’t Care…” ft. Lil Yachty, which earned notice from Pitchfork and racked up over 3.6 million views on its music video, “Free Mr. Banks,” a tribute to Lil Durk, and 2025’s “Not So Virgo Of You” (2 million views). Dr*gs R Bad streams on all platforms via EMPIRE and is available to purchase in several variations on CD and vinyl.

Dr*gs R Bad is the culmination of an era for LUCKI, who has been keeping busy by releasing singles and producing his own documentary, Bad Influence. In 2024, LUCKI released GEMINI!, which debuted at #20 on the Billboard 200, #7 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, and #3 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, home to fan-favorites like the viral “RIP” (105 million Spotify streams, #39 peak on TikTok’s Top 50), recently certified GOLD, “Heavy On My Heart” (46 million Spotify streams), and “BBY Goat,” his second collab with Future, following 2022’s GOLD-selling “Kapitol Denim.” Proudly independent for his whole career, LUCKI continues to rack up accolades, earning six GOLD certifications and one PLATINUM (“New Drank”) certification in the past year alone.
