The One-Of-A-Kind Emcee Picks Up Right Where She Left Off, as She Preps her New Album, KWEEN, for a May 29th Release.

M.A. Sets the Scene For Her Upcoming Album By Delivering a Dazzling Freestyle Over the Instrumental From Pooh Shiesty’s “FDO”

Critical Praise:

“She’s one of the last rappers remaining whose freestyles are appointment viewing. M.A. can slip in and out of conversation with ease, delivers her punchlines in a laid-back, unbothered tone that makes every line sound like street poetry. She moves at a slow pace like she’s giving a sermon, and you lean in to make sure not a word is missed.” – Pitchfork

“Young M.A. is the real mayor of NYC” – Rolling Stone

“Young M.A Is Her Own Biggest Inspiration” – Interview Mag

“The Brooklyn MC has delivered countless knockout verses.” – REVOLT

The Announcement:

Multi-Platinum rapper Young M.A. prepares for the next chapter of her illustrious career, announcing Kween, her upcoming album. Fully recharged after a period of personal growth and discovery, the Brooklyn native prepares to dominate another summer, with a collection of barred out bangers purpose-built to demonstrate her fitness for the rap game throne. With a title that combines the words “king” and “queen,” used by M.A. in a popular 2017 freestyle and for her charitable KWEENZ Foundation, the upcoming Kween is M.A.’s first full-length since 2021, and her first studio album since 2017’s HERstoryKween releases on May 29th via M.A. Music / 3D.
Along with the announcement of Kween, M.A. lays the roadmap for the upcoming album with her brand new “FDO” freestyle. Using the instrumental from Pooh Shiesty’s Billboard Top 20 hit, “FDO” finds M.A. delivering a torrent of quotable bars, reflecting on her sobriety and battle with inner demons, while still making very clear that nobody can mess with her: “Man, I love being sober/Buying bottles of water, that 40 pack out of Kroger/Still protectng my piece, still keep my head on my shoulders/Still usin’ God as a weapon, don’t let the Devil approach you,” she spits. The instrumental provides a regal atmosphere that befits M.A.’s new direction, lending gravitas to her final pronouncement: “Came around that roundabout, they thought I was down and out/And yeah I’m still indie, count the numbers, how y’all gon count me out/It’s a rap for you n****s when the album out.”

“FDO” arrives as Young M.A. announces a Northeast run of shows, highlighted by a hometown show in Brooklyn on May 28th, just before Kween releases on all platforms, the 5-date run also passes through Philadelphia, Hartford, Albany, and Asbury Park, NJ. Tickets are available at https://youngmamusic.com/.

The official announcement of Kween continues a ferocious run from the star rapper, marked by viral freestyles and speaker-knocking singles. After taking a hiatus to conquer her personal demons, M.A. emerged with a vengeance in 2025, showing her singular talent on “Went Legit,” a freestyle over the hit G Herbo anthem. Performed during Kai Cenat x On The Radar’s Mafiathon, M.A.’s “Went Legit” quickly went viral, racking up over 6.8 million views on YouTube and re-establishing her as one of rap’s bar-for-bar best. Since then, M.A. has kept the streets hot with singles like “Aura” and “Thumperz” in late 2025, and made a splash with “Lasagna,” her most recent single, which has nearly 2 million views since dropping in February. She was also part of Druski’s Coulda Fest tour at the end of 2025.

For more than ten years, Young M.A. has been one of hip-hop’s most beloved artists, taking over the streets with her quotable missives. Her smash hit “OOOUUU” is one of the defining rap hits of the past decade, going 4x Platinum, racking up over 471 million YouTube views, peaking at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100, and inspiring remixes from every artist under the sun. Even nine years after release, the song can still shut down a function in any city across the country. “OOOUUU” is only a small part of M.A.’s story–her catalog has generated more than 3 billion streams, her singles “Big” and “Pettywap” went Platinum and Gold, respectively, and she has released four full-length projects to date (HerstoryHerstory In The MakingRed FluOff The Yak). Beyond music, M.A. has expanded into acting, with roles in the Emmy-winning TV series Mr. Robot and the acclaimed film The 40 Year Old Version, and gives back to her community via the Kweenz Foundation, which she founded with her mom.

With Kween on the way, Young M.A. has been focusing on her health and state of mind as she prepares to claim her rightful throne. Stay tuned for much more.
