Rising UK rapper TKandz took over the internet with his 2025 hit “NOW OR NEVER,” crashing into the UK Top 40, generating hundreds of millions of streams, and inspiring a worldwide TikTok trend. Six months after releasing the song that changed his life, the 18-year-old artist releases the “NOW OR NEVER” official music video, giving a proper visual accompaniment to his global smash.
An invigorating rap hit about seizing opportunities and believing in yourself, “NOW OR NEVER” gained a foothold in the world football community, making its way into social posts by megastars like Kylian M’bappe and Lamine Yamal. The video for “NOW OR NEVER” embraces those football associations, crafting a narrative about overcoming odds and following dreams and recruiting real athletes from AFC Wimbledon’s youth academy to act in the video. TKandz performs the song at Plough Lane, a storied London stadium and the home of AFC Wimbledon, while the video follows an aspiring athlete as he trains tirelessly in an effort to become a superstar. The song’s triumphant hook and heavenly samples provide the perfect backdrop for the young man’s story, as he trains in the London streets, scores an impressive goal, and imagines a better life for himself and his family. As TKandz says in the song: “If I can do it, why can’t you?”
Released in September, “NOW OR NEVER” was a global smash, catching fire on TikTok and hitting the charts. The song debuted at #41 on the UK Official Charts, before moving up 13 spots to a peak of #28. The song charted on the Billboard Global 200, reached #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50, and topped the Viral chart in the USA, UK, Spain, and several other countries. At its peak, “NOW OR NEVER” racked up over 3 million on-demand streams per day. Last month, TKandz released the official remix for “NOW OR NEVER,” adding a verse from Atlanta superstar Lil Baby to make the song even more anthemic. To date, “NOW OR NEVER” has generated over 175 million streams to date on Spotify alone.
The song received a boost from its traction in the world of international football, earning posts from superstars Kylian Mbappe (over 120 million IG followers) and Lamine Yamal (38 million followers), playing on a stream by noted football fan IShowSpeed, and making its way into official videos by brands like FIFA, FC Bayern, FC Barcelona, and many more.
Though TKandz experienced massive success in 2025, he knows his work is not done. “There’s always another level, another step,” said TKandz in a recent interview with NME. “Getting a gold record or going platinum won’t make me feel finished; it’ll just make me hungrier. I’m always in competition with myself. I’m not complacent. I’m taking everything one step at a time.”
