The Rundown:
Emerging from a SoundCloud scene overflowing with talent, Yung Fazo still stands out. The Guyanese-American artist applied his classically-trained voice and immersion in the diverse sounds of his Queens, NY home to make a name for himself in the underground scene before he could even drive. Since emerging as a 14-year-old, Fazo has only continued to grow, evolving his sound to encompass elements of hyperpop, R&B, and rage, all anchored by his elastic tenor. Still only 20, Fazo is determined to prove that his best days are still to come.
Born and raised in Queens, Fazo developed his interest in music through choral music, singing intricate classical chorales in choirs as a pre-teen. By eighth grade, Fazo realized that he could apply his vocal talents to the premier artform of his home borough, discovering the SoundCloud sound through communities he formed via his love of gaming. The young artist made a quick impact, earning a viral hit with “FROZONE,” released in 2019 when he was only 14, racking up over 2 million streams on Spotify. In subsequent years, after releasing additional hits like “Wesson,” Fazo drew the attention of many underground peers, including his frequent collaborator SoFaygo, who connected with Fazo for “Adding” (over 50 million Spotify streams), and his fellow teenagers Tana (then Baby Santana) and Slump6s, who collaborated with Fazo on the underground posse cut, “Antisocial 2.” A major moment for the new generation, “Antisocial 2” was 2021’s most-played independent song on SoundCloud.
Since 2021, Fazo’s aim has been to expand his horizons, incorporating new elements into his sound and making connections across the industry. In 2022, Fazo performed at Rolling Loud New York, lighting up the stage in his home borough of Queens. Fazo earned arned another viral hit in “ttlwg,” which generated thousands of TikTok creations. In 2023, Fazo received an on-record shout-out from Lil Uzi Vert, on the leaked song “Molly,” in 2023, and introduced listeners to multiple facets of his personality with the album Me Vs. Me. Fazo continued to keep his gamer fans fed, collaborating in 2024 with Platinum producer Murda Beatz for “Limitless,” featured on the Fortnite Battle Pass. The young rapper has a large fanbase in East and South Asia, as proven by his multiple sold-out tours in those markets.
2025 was a year of fine-tuning and self-definition for Yung Fazo. February saw the release of ZO, a high-octane new mixtape, which fully integrated Fazo’s pop instincts and R&B-inflected melodies into a evolutionary rage rap sound. ZO generated over 5 million streams in just its first month of release. The mixtape featured “ALL IN MOTION,” a whirring and ethereal anthem, that has over 5 million streams on Spotify alone.
Fazo showcased music from ZO and highlights from his career during his performance at the inaugural Rolling Loud India this past weekend. The performance was the culmination of his career to date, highlighting his transformation from precocious teenager to full-fledged artist, who can set a crowd ablaze with his underground anthems. Fazo’s Rolling Loud India performance exemplifies his draw as a standout live performer, coming on the heels of two fast-selling tours in the U.S. and Europe, with sellouts in markets like Paris, London, Berlin, Seattle, and Miami. Fazo’s next performance will be at Lil Gotit’s “Keed Forever” tribute show in Atlanta on December 19th.
