The Announcement:
Since its founding in 2019, Afro Nation has celebrated Global Black music and culture, bringing superstar artists to must-attend events in Europe, Africa, the U.S., and Puerto Rico. This fall, Afro Nation returns to the Caribbean with Afro Nation Punta Cana, a multi-day experience. Today, the international brand reveals the lineup for its first-ever event in the Dominican Republic, headlined by Afrobeats phenom Ayra Starr, hitmaking hip-hop princess Sexyy Red, and amapiano originator DJ Maphorisa. The three headliners will be supported by a thrilling array of ascendant and established artists from Africa and the diaspora, representing additional genres like dancehall, electronic, and more. With more artists to be announced in the near future, Afro Nation Punta Cana launches from November 7-9 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Afro Nation Punta Cana is unique among Afro Nation events, offering an intimate multi-day experience with excellent music electrifying three different venues around the beautiful beach town. For the first segment of the event, Afro Nation hits up Pearl Beach Club for two nights of dancing. On the final day of the event, Afro Nation takes over El Dorado Waterpark, creating a festival-like atmosphere on the park’s grounds, with performances from some of the event’s biggest artists. With a number of partnering resorts helping to make the experience seamless, Afro Nation Punta Cana is a one-way ticket to paradise, with beautiful music and glorious weather to liven up the fall.
Afro Nation Punta Cana continues Afro Nation’s tradition of high-profile events in diverse global locales. With a reputation as the world’s biggest Afrobeats festival, Afro Nation has hosted events in Portugal, Ghana, Puerto Rico, and produced U.S. festivals in Miami and Detroit. Last year, Afro Nation hosted Afro Nation Detroit 2024, recruiting stars like Lil Wayne, Asake, and Rema to tear it up in the historic music city.
Afro Nation is dedicated to providing a global platform for music from Africa and its diaspora. In addition, Afro Nation teams with BBC Radio 1xtra and the Official Charts Company to host a weekly UK Afrobeats Chart Show, and in 2022, Afro Nation partnered with Billboard to present the first-ever U.S. Afrobeats Chart.
