The Sacramento Native Blows Off Steam in “Slight Vent Pt. 3” Music Video
The Smack Talk Savant Explores More Mature Topics On His Upcoming Album, But Retains the Out-Of-Pocket Charm That Earned Him a Devoted Fanbase on the West Coast
Critical Praise:
“DB.Boutabag is a Sacramento, California rapper who makes hip-hop that’ll cave in floors at West Coast house parties.” – Pitchfork

“South Sacramento rapper DB.Boutabag makes rap music meant to hit you in the chest” – Passion Of The Weiss
The Video:
A Sacramento native with a reputation for slick talk, DB.Boutabag has accepted the responsibility that comes with being a neighborhood hero. The beloved West Coast scenester shares the tracklist for his upcoming project, The Real Boutabag II. Giving his fans a deeper look into his life as a working rapper and new father, DB rhymes with a renewed focus on TRBII, motivated by his need to provide for his family. The 12-track tape is home to the wholesome and hard-hitting recent single “A Dad Talk,” and the party positive banger “Both Ways.” Featuring guest appearances from DaBoii, formerly of SOB x RBE, and L.A. notable Big Sad 1900, The Real Boutabag II arrives on July 25th.
Along with the announcement of the tracklist, DB shares his new music video, “Slight Vent Pt. 3.” Slipping between mournful saxophones, gated snares, and speaker-obliterating 808s, the 25-year-old rapper takes a moment to vent, reflecting on fake friends and ungrateful family members, before resolving that they won’t ruin his life. Like much of his recent music, the song reflects the perspective of a devoted father: “You tryna throw me off my pivot, I’ve been in the lab every night/Jumpin’ in this bag like every night/Picking up my son during the day, then I gotta drop him off/That sh*t hurt my pride.” Shot in crisp black-and-white, the video for “Slight Vent Pt. 3” demonstrates how the life of a rapper can be glamorous, but isolating, as he leads a solitary existence before stepping out to perform for a sold out crowd.
Since emerging from the South Sacramento street scene in 2020, DB.Boutabag has established himself as one of the most prolific slick talkers on either coast. With a style inspired by the greats from L.A. and The Bay, including the late Mac Dre, DB has generated tens of millions of streams across platforms, thanks to West Coast anthems like “1st Off,” “Don’t Choke,” “Cocky,” and “Fettucine.” The rapper has earned praise from the likes of Pitchfork, The FADER, and Passion of the Weiss, and has collaborated with everybody from 03 Greedo to Skilla Baby to Kamaiyah to the legendary Drakeo The Ruler on their street hit “Top Rapper.”
With The Real Boutabag II on the way, DB is out to change the conversation. Stay tuned for more.
