The Video:
Captivating with his shimmering soundscapes and easy melodies, Myles Lloyd is Canada’s next R&B sensation. Today, the young Montreal native shares a cinematic video for his spritely viral single, “Drive Me Crazy,” giving one of his biggest songs to date the visual treatment it deserves.
Produced by Myles’ fellow MTL native Tilt, “Drive Me Crazy” rides a sumptuous, stuttering bassline and ripples of futuristic synths to adorn Myles’s falsetto-driven situationship saga, in which he fends off the advances of a woman who only wants him for his fame and fortune. Directed by Dan LeMoyne, who uses a 4:3 aspect ratio and natural film grain to recreate the aesthetic of Myles’s beloved VHS videos, the video for “Drive Me Crazy” follows Myles as a chance encounter with a mysterious woman (portrayed by Natasha Sharabura) turns a routine post-show cab ride into a treacherous journey. The woman uses her voodoo to control Myles’s car, causing it to swerve and eventually, in a shot inspired partially by Inception, submerge under water. “Drive Me Crazy” features cameos from Toronto singer-songwriters Dylan Sinclair and 646yf4t.
“The inspiration behind the video was to create something powerful and unique with a strong emotional twist,” says Myles Lloyd. “Sometimes life gets overwhelming — whether it’s relationships, work, or day-to-day stress — and we all hit a point where we feel like we’re being driven crazy. This video was my way of showing what that feels like. I was also inspired by a scene from Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus film, where he’s in a taxi being driven through the city, slowly losing it as the chaos of the streets mirrors what he’s feeling inside. That scene stuck with me, and I wanted to channel that same energy — being on the edge, caught between reality and emotion.”
Originally released in November 2024, “Drive Me Crazy” has grown into one of Myles Lloyd’s biggest songs to date. After building anticipation with snippets and intriguing Instagram videos, the song hit the ground running upon release, generating over 6k short-form video creations, drawing the attention of artists like Ty Dolla $ign, and earning “Tune Of The Week” status from Uber UK. The song earned acclaim from UPROXX and was named one of the best Montreal songs of 2024 by Cult MTL. “Drive Me Crazy” received an unexpected boost when the song found its way to K-Pop superstars ENHYPEN, who played the song on stream and raved about it to their legion of fans. To date, the song has generated more than 17 million streams across platforms and racked up over 174k worldwide Shazams, reaching the Top 200 in South Korea behind its endorsement by ENHYPEN and other groups like NCT.
“Drive Me Crazy” is only the latest chapter in Myles Lloyd’s rise. Growing up a fan of artists as diverse as Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Drake, and The Weeknd, Myles Lloyd threw himself into his music career after his hockey dreams faded, embracing the legacy of his musical family. The 25-year-old singer-songwriter has been rising steadily since releasing his 2019 debut Goodbye, home to his fan-favorite single “I Want It All” (1+ million Spotify streams), and since emerging, he has earned praise from Complex, PAPER Mag, Teen Vogue, Wonderland, and more. Last year, Myles released the 9-track WHAT MORE CAN I SAY? project, home to heartfelt songs like “NEVER BE THE SAME” and the playful title track.
Now, with “Drive Me Crazy” on the rise, Myles Lloyd plans his next move, one that will elevate him from Montreal’s favorite son to an international concern. Stay tuned for much more.
